I visited yesterday and my mind was absolutely blown by ALL of his trees. It's an amazing place! If you do come to the UK, let me know, I'd be more than happy to show you some of the wonders around here! The Major Oak especially, in Sherwood forest, is rumoured to have been the home of Robin Hood... This one Oak tree is between 800 and 1000 years old... Only a 20 minute drive away from Greenwood Bonsai 😊

What a collection of trees ! I have complexes. Mine are much smaller and young. The oldest are barely 18. None imported from Japan. All from here at home, in France (🇨🇵). But I really like yours. Magnificent ! 👌

Great work corin! Love ur trees. I got a question i live in the US if i were to buy a tree from japan does anyone know a good website where i can get one that would ship it to me? Also do nurseries have a some sort of priority to get these imports
@cactsai
@cactsai Жыл бұрын
There are ZERO nurseries in Japan that will ship to the USA. I've tried as well. The import process from Japan is insane and takes many months of quarantining a bare rooted tree both in Japan, and then again in the US, heavily hit with pesticides to kill all bugs, nematodes, bacteria and fungi in the soil before being allowed to move to it's final destination. If I remember correctly, the whole process takes 3-4 months. I believe there are only two or three nurseries here in the states that can do this, which is why Japanese imported trees are so damned expensive here.

@@cactsai i see. I have bought some from very well known and experienced people but it was only a satsuki azalea. Came from california. Other than that idk how some of these people are getting them to the US. I also have bought from brussels bonsai website and im sure those are from japan also. Im looking for other websites that will ship here. Other than that i guess well have to stick with the few places we know

Just a quick question. With Japanese maples. since we are in winter in Australia. Do I do big cuts on them or just little cuts. I have some nursery stock I bought a couple of years ago and I really wont to get on with them I am talking about cuts of at least 2 inches

Corin, I live in Suffolk UK and my specimen trident maple has not shown any signs of life this year and I am devastated that it has probably died over the incredibly harsh winter. However, when i scratch any of the twigs on the tree they are still green under the bark. Is it possible that the tree is still alive or am I just deluded? Thanks buddy

Should be in leaf by now mate, scratch a bit of the trunk with your fingernail to see if it's green underneath which will tell you if it's alive or not.. Hope it is
