thank you for the video.. Very solid job explaining differences ... both are awesome reels... I personally am leaning towards the Galvin, because where I fish for Trout in the SouthWest, it is very rock and I do a lot of climbing down, and over things ... I have dented jacked up some reels in the past because of this ... I use to own and love the Ross CLA , reminds me of how you describe the Galvin, but Ross, which I today day wonder why discontinued it.. this seems like it could be a very good replacement for it ... Going to pair it with a 7ft 3wt FiberGlass Rod its a 89 gram rod , so I am hoping that will work. Suggestions

Ross Animas with plastic inside? I was thinking to buy this reel. Now I think about a Bauer reel. Till now I have two reels from Orvis, both are cfo III. I bought an Orvis Helios 2 and want to have a fine good reel for it. greetings from The Netherlands and tight lines.

When comparing the weight of reels, it is important to consider the rod you will be using the reel with. Sometimes a heavier reel will balance better with your rod -- and, depending on how you fish -- that can be important. Less weight is not always better. That, to me, is where this comparison falls short.

agreed man for me thats a huge factor, the new super lite reels make the rods balance for crap

Which one picks up the most line up when you slap it? I like a reel that has a good sound but picks up line quick. Free spin but with noise.

Guys, the Galvan reels have superior drag adjustability... the range is a feature, not a bug!

my Rush Lt 5 weighs 4.8 ounces, and is a great reel, the Animas was to light to balance my 6wts. But both are great values and quality companies.

Feel like this was information i could've gotten off the manufacturers specs page and not of any reel value (reel value).

What about the difference in the sound? Can’t hear that on a spec page.

@@dong8307 if you asked me to make a review of the reel i've been fishing for the past year, would you want me to read of the manufacturers specs and then throw in, "and the click is buttery smooth, kinda muted". as a consumer is that enough info to warrant spending money on it. i could write a couple pages about my galvan and because that's the relationship you have with a reel after fishing it. these reviews feel so cheap

Other than the cost difference, the Galvan Torque would be a better comparison to the animas.

I'll take the Animas.

I want to buy the animas because for my 7wt application I can get a larger reel, more backing and lighter in comparison to the Galvan but that plastic sound is awful. Let alone to find out they’re using a plastic gear and plastic pawl...everytime a fish runs I’m reminded that of its plastic prowess...pass. I’m buying the Galvan, 🤞 I don’t need more than 80yrds of backing.

The Animas drag sucks. I had trouble stopping a 5 lb. fish with it.

I'll take the Ross Gunnison

I'm with you guy. I've got two original model G-1's and two original model G-3's and multiple extra spools for both sizes - and I've fished all of these reels really hard literally for decades now. They are bomb proof! Solid! And the drag is always reliable. They may not be the "prettiest" reel in the world, but I love em.
