Don't compare any of those with Kabir Singh. Kabir was an amazingly manly, masculine, dominant, aggressive, no nonsense and competent man,who is flawed. Flawed, but Alpha nevertheless. There's a huge reason why it recieved such appreciation from both men and women. Men wanted to be him. Women wanted a man like him, even in this age of bullshit radical feminism, where women are becoming more masculine and men are becoming more feminine. Currently the average Testosterone levels have dropped to HALF the average T levels before the rise of feminism.

Being a Malayalee, I also believe that the 2000s were pretty bad for the Malayalam film industry. Most of the films were star-oriented and little to no attention was given to the scripts or to the artistry level. Illogical and outright problematic scenes were present but nobody recognised. Being a kid who watched lots of movies during the 2000s, I was also under the impression that this is how cinema WAS supposed to be. Thank God I was wrong! Proud of our Industry and its progression now!💓😃 EDIT : Thanks for the support! ❤️

The most misogynistic of Indian movie industries is Telugu film industry. Not just Ram Pothineni's movies have disturbing misogynistic scenes like the one you showed. Movies of all 'Top Heroes' of the industry have such disturbing scenes. The man who tops the list is Balakrishna. That old man likes to harass teenage girls and young girls (I mean the heroines) in his movies, both physically and by words. And, he wants at least two heroines in all his movies.

There is one particular scene from the film "Joru ka ghulam" starring Govinda and Twinkle Khanna which is so regressive that nobody, trust me, no sane man will be able to sit through it. Govinda's character goes on to horribly insult and bully a gay man, with the most stereotypical character traits, which not only reflects the homophobic mindset of the writers but also the callousness of the CBFC. Telugu movies are mostly watched by the masses especially the commercial ones starring Pk, Mb etc. They don't really care about these problematic scenes as long as they are entertained. But there are many others who actually do care about these scenes. In every movie industry you always find both these two types of audience. So the people who really watch movies only for the stars really try to defend their idols and start criticising those who speak against them. The reason why I still support the fact that audiences are changing is because I have seen countless memes about the problematic scenes in Sarileru Neekevvaru and many other movies which clearly showcases that audiences are changing. Something that really baffles me is how Malayalam film Industry took a nosedive after 1980s and maybe early 1990s. Most of the movies during that period by legendary film makers were so authentic and rooted in reality that they still feel fresh and relevant even in today's society. And yes, I'm talking about movies by Padmarajan, K. G. George, M. T. Vasudevan Nair, Jayaraj and the like. I still don't understand how the trashy movies casually succeeded the Golden era of Malayalam film industry.

The main reason why nowadays movies are less problematic compared to the 2000s is because of the rise of social media.. Imagine if social media existed back in 2000s. The amount of movies with problematic scenes and story line would have been lesser.. And also note that the internet revolution is one of the reasons why a lot of a good movies with lesser known actors are recognised and praised which back in the 2000s wasn't the case. Also for an actor to be a part of good script alone wasn't the case in the 2000s in malayalam industry due to the star power, and financially very few producers backed innovative scripts which led to new comers taking this outdated scripts.. Thank god the New Gen era ( of malayalam cinema) which came in the early 2010s with movies like Traffic (2011), Chappa Kurishu (2011), Ustad hotel (2012), Salt n Pepper (2011), 22 FK (2012) etc which were financially successful..Or else the industry would have been pretty much the same until 2015 or 2016..

Chocolate was released in 2007. Definitely not 2002, because that was Prithiviraj's debutant year.

Malayalam film industry just went through a phase in the 2000s where the producers were forced to take industrial and commercial movies...But there were lots of good movies of blessy, sibi malayil,Roshan andrews,... etc coming out during that time.Other than that Malayalam cinema has always been progressive even in the 60s,90s and 80s.The difference between Bollywood and Malayalam is that we went back to who we were.. Bollywood isn't even trying to change.Even the audience there reject good movies if it doesn't have a very popular cast...

No in 80s, 2000s, 2010s they made good movies this happened in 90s now they are getting flops but not making problematic content

As a S Indian you might not be seeing these things, but the trend of making a movie with a message was started by Amir khan a decade back with movies like 3 idiots and Taare zameen par And new actors like ayushmaan khurana, raj kumar rao, nawazzudin are on the same spot! Example Ayushmaan's movies like Article 15(About caste system) Bala(about racism with bald and dark people) Dream girl(women empowerment) Andhadhun(Fantastic thriller one of best trillers ever) Subh mangal savdhaan(Sex taboo in I society) Subh mangal zyada savdhaan(about homophobia) These are very new movies like just 2-4 years old and all movies are just by 1 actor, check out eating and trailer as well

Because it is the only industry that has actively changed from such regressiveness, maybe you should take that into consideration?

Nowadays most of youtubers also kept on blaming bollywood all the time only to look cool and relevant. Criticizing bollywood has become their favorite content. I mean it's ok to criticize them at their flaws. Every industry has their own goodness and drawbacks be it bollywood, hollywood Or any regional cinema. I'm also kind of annoyed by continuous remakes by bollywood but that's also true that it has given many memorable movies also which made our childhood awesome. People are bashing bollywood actors for everything possible. And comparing them with South Indian actors. Although South does have amazing actors but having said that "bollywood has no better actors" is sick. See when we say bollywood it doesn't mean kapoors and khans only. Bollywood has given such legendary actors like Dilip Kumar, Devanand, Manoj Bajpayee, Pankaj Tripathi, Nawazuddin Sidhiqui, kay kay Menon, Randeep Hooda, Paresh Rawal, Boman Irani, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Tabu, Neena Gupta, Seema Pawa and many more. Also it has young talents like Raj Kumar Rao, Vicky Kaushal, Ayushmann Khurrana, Vikrant Messy, Harshavardhan Rane, Radhika Apte, Taapsee Pannu, Bhumi Pednekar, Yami Gautam and so many others. It's a insult to them when we say something like that. On nepotism I'll say that giving unfair chance is really problematic. When I see someone like Arjun kapoor getting so much opportunities and immensely talented actor like Harshavardhan Rane is still struggling broke my heart. But there is one more side to it. I remember recommending Sanam Teri Kasam to many of my friends but they refused watching that as if Harshavardhan is not recognized and renowned actor. Also they are the same people who abuse nepotism. I mean its our fault also. Just keep rooting and celebrating the real talent. That's all guys. Also I'm huge fan of u Jammy.
