Absolutely love this video. The setting is informal and intimate. As if he is playing for his inner circle of friends. At the beginning you hear what sounds like a glass of bottle dropped. Liking the T-shirt and occasional flash of buttcrack: you cant get much more down-to-earth than that! It's all about the music here

One of them. 5, 7, 9, and 10 are my favourites. So hard to choose, though, and also with performers... the music is so off the scale, no one recording of any of them is sufficient, you need lots!

How does Trifonov play like a god with those fingernails? It's all in the mind. Also love the fact he is actually 'casting spells' at certain points, not really necessary, but it seems to work for him. Its excitement (Adrenaline, Dopamine). I know from own public rehearsals as a pianist. His old teacher Sergey Babayan told, that he was afraight that he could dry out, as Trifonov was so much emotionally involved every lesson with him. Best regards.

Мне его не за что прощать! Я терпимо отношусь к сексуальной ориентации. Но я считаю что это дело личное и интимное. Выпячивать эту свою особенность и делать из нее некий манифест я считаю неправильным и порочным. Так что несмотря на то, что считаю Трифонова выдающимся пианистом, все же считаю такое поведение недопустимым. Музыка это музыка, а интимные вещи, это интимные вещи. Не надо их смешивать. Такое же мнение у меня о пианистке Yuja Wang, которая превносит в концерт элементы эротического шоу.

In other musical genres it’s quite normal to have an Extreme expression of the face, for example metal. So in this piece, in a modern classical music world, it’s absolutely fine, if the music is good. And it’s very good.
