Triggered Loud Alarms at Abandoned Hospital: Unsolved Horrors Investigated

In this video, we explore an abandoned hospital in Ireland that was formerly occupied as one of the country's 18 Mother and Baby Homes that was under government investigation after hundreds of children were discovered beneath one. Reports of horrific abuse, forced labour, negligence, secret adoptions overseas in exchange for money and starvation were published, all contributing to thousands of tragic infant mortality across most, if not all, of the sites. It is one of the darkest pasts we have come across, a total juxtaposition from the building's colourful walls and child-friendly hospital decorations of modern day.

Despite the extraordinary and surreal horror of it’s past it has a sense of peace about it, as if it has finally managed to let go of a lot of pain. I think your calm relaxed and warm approach to what you are doing exacerbates that. I am sorry for it’s past and hope it can gain a better future

That sounds like a fire alarm, the beeping beforehand was probably a fault warning. If it was a burglar alarm there usually is only one internal speaker and the tone is different

Built in the 1930's it not even that old. .. It looks more like something from the 1950's from the outside, but Art Deco on the inside with the staircase, banister rails, toilet floor tiling, bathroom fixtures and fittings and radiators. With its sordid history and dark past, I guess this is a part of history that needs to be saved and preserved for future generations to appreciate, and it does look like it has been kept in good condition and still looks 'active', with no evidence of copper thieves or graffiti artists ? ... As someone born in the 70s who experienced the last stranglehold Catholicism had on Irish society I’m glad my kids don’t have to grow up in this world. As an atheist I lived in rage during my teen years and 20s seeing the injustice perpetrated by the Catholic Church. Even now, that building could be revamped and used to house homeless families or refugees but the Church just leaves it there to rot or waiting to sell it for more money.

Thought i had commented on this but can't find it, The chapel was preserved and looked as though it was up and running. Loved the natural decay but loved the rooms more that were untouched and could be used immediately. Read a few books about women who sought refuge in these places only to find themselves bereft at the thought of giving birth amongst people they didn't know and having the baby taken away with no regard for the emotional bond felt between a mother and her child. I wonder if the fathers of these children felt like this to? The babies were shipped out, or spoken for in the blink of an eye and hopefully reunited in years to come. Wonder why certain women of the time trained to be nuns and sisters when they appeared to inflict these women with such horrible behaviour when they were meant to help and support them, seems to me they judged them, shame on them...
