TRIGGERED [RB26 Trigger Kit] - Ep57 :: TueZday Garage :: RB26 into 300zx

Welcome back to the TueZday Garage as we lean forward into the new year. This year is going to be a banger; full of projects, big changes, big moves, and even a new project car!
This week I install two things: 1) An upgraded FMIC, and 2) a trigger kit to replace the OEM CAS. Both of these upgrades should legitimately transform the car...(*and they DO!!!)

OMG.. I'm Glad I found you video. I' looking to upgrade my CAS and I looking into getting one of the NZ wiring kits but my ecu( Haltech P&P) dosnt support them, So I was going to upgrade my ECU to the Elite. Thanks a Million!!

Take note of iat temp before and after ic swap. Will be intresting to see if you get less lag AND better iat. Allso youre new turbo internals is more laggy than the oem ceramic. But takes tons more boost so yeah turn that boost up 😊

I have definitely noticed a very real, very noticeable difference in lag over the last couple days. The car actually feels like a TT and not a big single :) More on that soon. I will see what data I can get back to you.

Good bit of kit that trigger. To bad the nz wiring kit doesent support haltec. Man it made such a profund difference in mine. Will be even better with a tune. More timing up top

I absolutely agree. Without access to a trusted tuner, it was the best choice. Once time and situation permit, a crank sensor is in the future.

Youre bow spring tension will allso be important for how much lag between gear shifts.

Hey dude, i have some problems with mine autodream trigger. I don't have any signal from trigger to the ecu, i running link g4+ ngtr plug in on my rb25. No fire up on there..........

You have to verify the polarity of the sensor and wire to ECU as input requires. This is explained in the video - not sure if you watched the whole thing. If still having problems, reach out to AutoDream - their tech support is responsive. They also have a number of videos on their channel discussing the polarity issue with various ECUs.

Very nice! Why'd you choose the AutoDream CAS compared to others, was it mainly the price? It is relatively "cheap" compared to some of the other kits out there.

The Haltech P&P only has the option to use an OEM RB trigger (CAS) or a 24+1 trigger kit. Most of the other trigger kits out there that I found were all 24-1 kits, or were not stand-alone cam kits - they required the crank in addition. The Autodream kit is a 24+1 setup and in his display video (found on the website) he is initiating an R34 that is running the Haltech P&P, so it seemed the obvious choice. Additionally, I have been monitoring other notable VG30 builders in the community and they were going down the same road, so I didn't feel it was a risk. The price was a bonus, but definitely not my reason for this particular kit. Thanks for asking.

BCs300z did you ever consider the Franklin Engineering option, or any opinions about that one?

@@KerKoy I've never heard of them before, but looking over their product just now, that kit requires you to install a Crank Trigger kit in addition to the Cam trigger. So it is not usable on it's own.

When we did my trigger : no engine is the same. So we had to change the numbers in the ecu until we read 20 on the timing gun. We did that with only the starter motor. Fuel and ignition off. It's the numbers in the trigger settings menu that now has to mirror the physical 20 degree timing on the engine. When that's matched, the timing can be changed in the timing tables when tuning.

Did you have to switch any wiring around? I know the haltech doesn't require one of the wires for the cas, I'm doing a similar set up and I was wondering what the wiring looks like going to the haltech :]

Cris Ruiz on older haltechs p&p you just need to swap the green and white wires. These are trigger outputs.

Cool deal! Glad you worked it out. The trigger looks sick. I'm learning alot about these RB engines. Looks like once I get a stand alone ECU I'll be looking into getting one of those. BTW I started my RB z32 project and just released a video on my channel check it out!
