The introduction of the new S&W Ultimate Carry J-Frame in .32 J&R triggered a flood of questions, and this week Michael tries to answer at least a few of them!

Thank you for promoting revolvers in general, and .32 H&R Magnum in particular, which just has NOT gone away! I got mine in the late Eighties and still carry it despite being sneered at several times by "macho" .45 ACP pistoleros who had no idea I was carrying it right in front of them. It has six rounds and is utterly reliable and very accurate without heavy recoil! The whole point of carrying for defense is to have a big enough bullet to STOP an enemy that is small enough to carry concealed, with enough capacity to do the job. Need I mention the important lack of overpenetration? Most of the old-time shooting experts agree that "bullet placement is more effective than bullet power." Even a .22 long rifle is effective for defense if you rapid fire a few shots accurately! .32 Magnum is the perfect size..........................elsullo

I love the little 32. The 32 mag, 327, the 32 auto, etc. my favorite is the 32 Long. It’s really very cool.

I even like 30 super carry which is basically the semi auto version of 327 federal magnum, it’s a great rd too! 👍🏻

@@michigunsanta8680 I don’t know why it hasn’t caught on with everyone trying to get a little more capacity. Seems like a no brainer if you are buying a new handgun anyway.

I own a blued version of that "ugly" revolver and love it! I also have a Heritage Rough Rider 3" birds head in .32 h&r magnum. I carry an older Taurus .327 almost daily!

.327/.32 caliber revolvers (6-shot) are the best option for people who don't want to run a 9mm, but aren't interested in going with .22 caliber pistols. Ruger has been champion of the .327 Fed magnum for years. Taurus got into it recently. S&W is just picking its nose doing stupid stuff in recent years, failing customer service, and sending out stuff that doesn't work. S&W needs to stop messing around, cut 25% of its useless products, remove the ridiculous management with bad ideas, stop hiring DEI workers, and focus on the core products that haven't been updated in a century.

My walking around town pistol is my Grandfather’s S&W lemon squeezer in 32 short! I know, “That’s not enough gun!” It fits in the palm of my hand and I don’t even notice it’s in my pocket! It’s for when all options have run out and I need to draw and fire! I’ve got Arthritis on my hands so anything above 38spl is not pleasant to shoot for me. I’m thinking on getting one of the 327 revolvers that can shoot all the 32s. I can practice all day long at the range with both 32 short and long and have no adverse effects on my hands. What do you think?

Great perspectives and sound advice. Looking forward to getting a Smith & Wesson Ultimate Carry in .32 H&R but my local gun shops distributor has drawn a zilch so far. I'm patiently waiting...

I owned that H&R revolver. Got it from my father. Fun little gun. The cylinder would get tight after about 30 rounds but nothing a little lube did not fix.

Never ever heard about this cartridge before. Definitely a very interesting option for compact carry.

My 732 looks exactly like yours but is an older model from the 1960's. The barrel has 32 SW L stamped on it yet yours has 32 HR MAG stamped on it. The pin locations, trigger profile, barrel diameter, cylinder, all of it look identical. I doubt the steel is any finer on your pistol. Do you think it is safe to shoot mags out of my 732? - If not I'm pretty happy shooting Buffalo Bore hard cast 32 longs.

I own all the weapons you just named. It takes a better man than I am to shoot the 327 magnum in the lCR, the recoil is brutal. I love it in the SP101 though.

My first handgun was that H&R 32 H&R magnum in blue and I still own it because I wouldn't inflict it on anyone else because it shaves jacket on one cylinder. I also blame it for my freakish 32 obsession.

I have a .32 H&R Magnum Charter Arms Undercoverette and bought my wife one also. Great and the lightest I could find under $1000. At 12 oz., they are super light and yet still easy to shoot. I load these with 85 Gr. Hornady XTP bullets and Ramshot Competition powder so it uses up the powder in the short barrel. The charter Arms Professional is my next .32 I've been looking at also.

Micheal! Talking power levels in .32 cartridges, how warm can say, a .32 ACP be safely loaded, to compare to the revolver rounds? Where does .30 Super Carry sit, on the spectrum? And a blast from the past, what kind of performance does .32-20 supply, since it was a popular rifle/revolver round, back in the day? Was it too big for the snubs of the day, where is it in comparison to a .38 spl., for instance? Just trying to figure what the power spectrum is, to compare.... 🤔

Buffalo Bore has a +p load for 32 h&r that is safe and shootable in a 327 mag. It sort of splits the difference. Buffalo Bore say it’s safe in any modern 32 h&r except the original like yours. I think that 32 h&r will make a resurgence with the release of the “ultimate carry revolver” just as younger shooters have spawned a resurgence in the revolver market.

Had ruger single seven ( I think) in 327 mag I hunted with. Took 2 deer, one at about 25 yards, other about 45 yards . Have lcr 327mag every day carry. Also backup to xd 40s&w. Bought 50 20 round boxes 327, 50 boxes 50 rounds 32 mag 5 boxes 50 round 32long. Think this caliber way way under rated. Little recoil, good bullet weight, nice velocity.

So I have a Glock 17 Gen5, if I buy a G19 Gen5, I can mix and mach the slides? So it would be a Glock 45? or 49?
@TomWaits-c9h7 ай бұрын
The 32 h&r sounds really interesting!
@walkingwolf80727 ай бұрын
What most people don't realize is that the 327 is loaded to rifle pressures, and over time of high volume it not only stretches the frame it peens breach. It is similar to shooting 357 magnum in a model 19 over an extended period of time. Only the 327 at 50K pressure is on steroids.
@Lutz1015 ай бұрын
Surely the 9mm G19 is the best Glock as the G17, G19X and G45 are markedly harder to conceal due to their taller grips, while the longer slide/barrel on the G49 makes it less concealable for no discernible benefit while being slightly slower to draw. Glocks in other calibers are less reliable, while the smaller G43 series pistols won't accept the high capacity double column Glock mags (15, 17, 24 and 33 rounds) or the heavier/lighter trigger springs the G19 will accept. Not for everyone, but the G19 ticks the most boxes.

I went all in on .327, then the .30 super carry came out now .327 has tripled in price. Federal should had a gun company make a semi auto .327. It could be done. I point to the Coonan .357 semi auto. That being said I love my .327s. Got into it with a Taurus m327 2in barrel then a henry big boy and a single 7. I carry .32 H&R mag in all my .32s except when hunting med game to deer then .327 fed mag

I will buy that 32 h and r revolver. it would go in my collection of working grab up any time it's needed. I own several magnum class pistols and revolvers. even my webly Scott 38 Smith. a 200gr cast lead bullet 650 -700 fps . I trust my life with it the same as my magnums, the only difference is my magnums are far more efficient but the of the story is all my sidearm work flawlessly, accurately, every time. Use what you got . papa wishing you well.
