Tan of any angle is the ratio between sin and cos of the same angle i.e., tan(x) = sin(x) / cos(x). Since sin(90) = 1 and cos(90) = 0, 1/0 is infinity. Infinity is undefined, so tan(90) and tan(270) are undefined.
