A "spicy" example solving a common trigonometry application of right triangle trig. SOH-CAH-TOA and angle of elevation are topics discussed in solving the following question:
In traveling across flat land, you notice a mountain directly in front of you. Its angle of elevation (to the peak) is 3.5°. After you drive 13 miles closer to the mountain, the angle of elevation is 9°. Approximate the height of the mountain.

This is amazing, thank you! You manage to explain something in 7.5 minutes what my professor couldn't in three lectures.

Thank you so much, our teacher gave us a single example for the whole of applications of right triangles so I really needed this.

My teacher said it was 8.2 for some reason, could there be a different method that causes 8.2 to be the right answer?

Sine LAW can also be used…calculating hypotenuse of smaller triangle a= 13(sin3.5/sin5.5) >>~ 8.28mi or 43718.4 feet hence sin9 = h/8.28 >> h= 1.295mi or 6837.6 feet therefore x= 8.18mi or 43190.4 feet …and bigger triangle hypotenuse @3.5 angle of elevation makes 21.22 mi or 112041.6 feet of distance..
