As a person with severe hearing loss and having to use headphones to interact with Windows, I have to thank you for presenting the differences in the Windows 11 sounds between light and dark mode, as well as comparing them to Windows 10. Most people would probably hear a negligible difference, but for someone like me, the dark mode sounds are virtually impossible to distinguish. I love using dark mode in Windows 10, and in fact the Windows 10 sounds in your comparison test were the most clear of all three to me. However, it looks like I will be having to stick with light mode when I upgrade to Windows 11 just to hear the stupid sounds! It sort of sucks that Microsoft doesn't accommodate people with hearing difficulties by simply keeping all volumes equal. Quite a bizarre feature, actually. Having said that, you really need to speak a bit slower and clearer. I had to slow the video down to 75% just to understand you. I needed the CC captions too. Other people have commented on this too, so just a heads up 🙂 You must have been excited to spread the news 😆 Thanks again anyway 🙏

I spent years using windows 8.1. Windows 10 felt like a game changer. That Start Menu was the best one Windows had. It's the best suited for productivity so far. I hated the tiles of v8.1 but to combine them in the start menu is genius. Had to buy a new laptop which came with Windows 11. It's aesthetically nicer (although they really need to get rid of yellow folders and give an option to change folder colours once and for all to any colour of the spectrum we choose). The big problem is this start menu. I almost don't need to have one. Why did they downgrade the v10 start menu????

As someone who had a big, old, rather-budget laptop carry me through school and run Windows 10 for a good portion of it, getting a small, sleeker laptop with Windows 11 running natively was a welcome experience in my case. Sure, minor inconveniences such as having use the "show more options" button when right clicking in file explorer and the more limited customization of the task bar could be considered drawbacks, but the streamlined experience provided by 11's commitment to thematic congruency and more elegant control scheme make general use so much more pleasant. Windows 10 really felt clunky for me, which made day-to-day use that much less appealing by comparison, and its inconsistent look was pretty headache-inducing looking back. I have to give it to 11: I didn't think the aesthetics of the UI would affect my mood while using the OS as much as it did. While I never wanted to use macOS as I really hated its feel, there's no denying that it was leagues above windows 10's interface visually. Windows 11 feels like it gives me the user-friendliness macOS has whilst still being good ol' Windows. More hands-on users who wouldn't categorize themselves as the "average consumer" might feel differently, however.

Yeah, that's your experience. It's totally valid, don't get me wrong, and I'm happy you are now more comfortable. On the other side, I have a custom built gaming computer that I use for a lot of personal projects, and Windows 10 was and still is amazing - I use all of the features of the start menu, taskbar, the layout. I really appreciate the style, too, looks sleek (not sure where you got the inconsistency from, but that could be just the theme you used). The new one is an obvious mimic of Mac`s to me, and I choose Windows deliberately, I have no love for their style. It has too many moving parts, every animation seems exaggerated, the icons are unbelievably colorful. I agree with you on the point that aesthetics matter a lot, as well as the general fit and layout of the system. I just appreciate Windows being Windows in aesthetics, too, not only functionality.

@@katerynaivzhenko6716 I’m pretty sure the inconsistency he talked about is how Windows 10s “modern new look” is just one layer deep and the second you go into any menu you’re right back in W7. Thank you for highlighting all the changes, and confirming that 11 just isn't for me. I hope the folks who adopt it enjoy it, but it's not for me. I really don't appreciate how Microsoft keeps complicating things for technicians who have to fix issues, like the network icon bringing up that quick action center. If I'm clicking network, it's because I have a network issue, I don't need to see brightness and accessibility when troubleshooting a network problem for instance. I need to see what my network is actually doing.

It's about "creativity". Microsoft is very creative in making a broken Windows after a good working one, and making move from one version to the next seem like going to a completely different operating system, wasting AT LEAST a few weeks of each individual's time on learning the new system. And they dare promote Windows with the word PRODUCTIVITY! How can you be productive if you have to keep upgrading to a drastically changed operating system where you are taken back to baby steps!? From the first version of Windows until Windows 2000, Microsoft has been making welcome and useful improvements. Windows 2000 had the perfect balance of features, speed and stability, everything that was needed, nothing that was not needed. I thought that MS finally got it right and made a perfect OS, now they just need to keep issuing Service Packs. Win XP proved me wrong, they changed a lot of stuff, started making Windows "look cool" but made it slower and less professional. Vista made it even more obvious that Windows was just getting worse, which MS sort of fixed with Windows 7, but then went back to making an even bigger OS disaster with Windows 8. When Windows 10 came out, I was not excited at all, and used it only because it came pre-installed on my laptop, but dreaded it every day. Their offer of "free upgrade to Windows 10" made me even more suspicious because Microsoft is just not known for giving such a large piece of software as an OS for free, and I was certain it was because they were planning to use it as an advertising and selling platform. I have never felt in control with Windows 10, it was as if MS owned my computer and decided what, when and how often to do on it, rather than me, the owner, which is especially true for forced updates and the built-in anti-virus (I never succeeded and getting some of my files back out of the quarantine, and I was a computer technician, for crying out loud). I don't even want to waste a second of my time on Windows 10 and any of the subsequent versions of Windows, as it is clear that Microsoft has lost its senses a long time ago, and decided to make a profit-driven corporate-cloud-controlled OS instead of a solid performing easily used completely independent working machine OS. I am sticking with Windows 7 for now, and looking for a user-friendly alternative aimed at serving the user and not the blind and deaf infinite greed of the company that built it. P.S.: Sorry for the rant, never planned to make it this long. 😀

They have messed up too much and too many times to make me ever want to come back. Even if they DID make a much better OS than 10 (and based on basically the same look and the focus of this ad on the looks, it is clear to me it's the same crap with mostly cosmetic changes), based on their pattern for 20 years now they will reduce the rubble with the next crap version.

windows 10 seemed perfect to me from a design point of view, their logo was great (rotated square), and changing the color of windows (using personalization) seemed like a great solution, all this is missing in windows 11. Especially frustrating is the new start panel and the panel at the top of Explorer. Very inconvenient settings, now everything is in some unnecessary drop-down menus, and if you want to change, for example, the playback device, you need to go to the settings, when in win 10 you could just click on the sound icon and change everything there. However, there are a number of advantages. For example, window animations and their rounding parameter. The new taskbar looks much better. In general, it seems that windows 11 needs to be refined and refined, I hope it won't come to windows 11.1 if you understand what I mean.

I find the lack of features available from the task bar disappointing. Glad paint et al is getting an update. They damn better add the seconds back to the clock. Finally, I'm going to miss the start menu aesthetic. While they may be wanting a more simplified and easy to read OS overall, I like knowing exactly what's going on when and how.

@@foxman105 Windows 8 wasn't actually a bad OS to begin with, even if 8.1 was a definite improvement. I'm generally of the opinion most hate directed at it was of the same nature as 'Vista was terrible' even though we know on retrospect Vista was great, but just too soon given the atrocious hardware of most PCs at the time. That aside, W10 has a shelf life now until October 2025, so MS has time to hear and feel our feedback, as do we to switch or lose support.

Thank you very much for putting this very concise and helpful video together. It more or less confirms what I have been speculating for the past year, that Windows 11 is not worth the upgrade, so I'll stick with 10 for the foreseeable future. I did the same with Windows 7 for many years and glad I never upgraded to Windows 8 which sucked. Meanwhile I'd like Microsoft to stop bugging me to upgrade and no I don't want to use Edge as my browser. Thanks, bye ;-)
