Looking at getting the SLx MD-25 on a pre order. Thanks for the input
@cavscout8886 ай бұрын
You're looking at the MRO wrong when discussing sizing through the tube. You mount the MRO closer to your face so that you can see through it along the walls and out the larger objective lens. So they'd be about the same for FOV.

I just ordered a PA SLx 25md to place on a Unity Tactical Fast mount.Also ordered a Trijicon MRO HD on a Schalerworks 1.93 mount.I had to spend my stimulas check wisely!!!

I pre-ordered the slx when they first came out last year and it's been my main optic since then. I agree where I wish the knob was on top, but overall I love it. Thing is still tough as nails and it was like $150 with Military discount. (another reason I love primary arms) the biggest advantage is the larger lense because I'm the same way with micro dots. I used to run a 20mm micro on my AR but couldn't stand how small it is. Haven't owned an MRO but that was my second choice, mainly because it costs double when they're clearly very comparable optics. But I have to admit, the MRO is slightly more attractive.

I think green reticles don't need as much blue tint to help enhance the dot.

Correct me if I’m wrong but the objective lens is the outer lens. The one you look thru first is the Ocular lens. Either way, I ordered the MRO. Cant wait to get it. PA does make good optics. I have a couple and they work great!

The biggest selling point of the MRO is durability. I don’t know of anything out there that it can’t handle the recoil from. Beat that crap out of it and It still does the job. The reticle isn’t quite aim point crisp. The battery life could do better. But ultimately it’s a rock solid dot with a big field of view. You could nitpick if you really wanted to, but I think the average shooter would be satisfied with the purchase

If I had to chose, between the MRO and the acss mdx25, I’d take the acss

Forgot to mention that the SLX MD-25 also is able to have an anti-reflection device attached to the front. That can be purchased through Primary Arms. It is a feature that I like so it was a selling point for sure. It is an outstanding sight.

Hello. Excellent and very informative video. I was just wondering, with the MD25, are you able to put a Larue mount with this, because I was told that the base plate setup was just like an Aimpoint, therefore a Larue mount would work with it due to the two having the same footprints, is this true?? Thank you and thank you for your timely response
@theuncouthtruth95512 жыл бұрын
Yes. It has the same T1 mount footprint so the aim point micro mount is comparable
@davelpz33404 жыл бұрын
Good review bud. I don’t get the whole green dot argument either, Hardly nothing out in the environment is red, but there sure is a lot of green outside. Makes sense red would stand out more. Maybe in theory the human eye picks up green faster, but not against bright objects.
@djphillips1092 жыл бұрын
How is that a full co-witness mount? The fixed sight appears to be aimed right at the mount, way under the optic. Just saying.
@theuncouthtruth95512 жыл бұрын
You are not wrong. It makes the irons useless unless you offset. That’s why I wish they went with an Aimpoint or MRO footprint for pass through. But unfortunately there’s no pass through witness options for the acog mini mounts that I’m aware of

My issue wit the PA, and why I returned it even though I had pre-ordered when it was first announced...is the ginormous battery compartment and rheostat dial for the dot. Placing it on the left side not only adds to the overall bulk of the profile but also presents more peripheral clutter when shooting with both eyes open as a righty shooter. I think they should have done what Bushnell did on their TRS-26, which has a similar larger objective format like this and the MRO. They put the battery compartment on top and put two buttons on the right ride, reducing the profile of both. Or like some Holosuns that put a battery tray on the bottom, and again have low profile buttons somewhere else. That would really help the outer body of the unit 'disappear' better in combination with the larger viewing objective when I use. Plus the PA's rotary switch is pretty clunky without stops in between settings.
@MILMI1232 жыл бұрын
It doesn't truly matter if you're shooting 2 eyes open. If you don't believe me, hold a tablespoon 8-12" in front of your right eye as it was an "obstruction. " There is nothing anywhere in front of you that you can't see even remotely
@Fugettaboutit2 жыл бұрын
@@MILMI123 as I mentioned, while shooting with two eyes this unit's protrusion does come into play moreso than others, as it can clutter the peripheral...a la the left eye. So for some it indeed does matter. Don't believe me? As a righty shooter, tape a spoon on the left side of a rifle's red dot sight, full face, and look at it 5 inches away like on a rifle so it's in front of your left eye. It's not that you can't see anything, but it's not as clear and clutter-free as with most quality red dots. Sure you can work around it, but even being a value unit, I think it's one extra thing they could have done better.
@Fugettaboutit2 жыл бұрын
@@MILMI123 Apologies if I sounded argumentative in my previous post. Agreed that with both eyes open, it helps a red dot's housing almost disappear at times. But when a structure is this jutting if you will, for many its does not 'fall away' as well as with other sights without as much sticking out. The Vortex Strike angle is another example. So I don't know if they had to go with a battery compartment and switch like this for a price point, but again just looking at the Bushnell TRS26, a more velvet solution could have been found, I believe. Of course it probably won't bother some, but for others it could be a big point for choosing something else.

25mm objective aperture (easy to remember when you think about the model number being MD-25). Also has 3 heights available with the included spacers (two of them). .96" (low mount), 1.41" (standard mount), 1.535" and 1.64" heights - both risers to boost the height. The reason you get blue tint with the red Trijicon MRO, the Aimpoint, the PA dots etc is because the 'bluer' it is, the easier it is for the LED emitter to show up bright - the less tint you have and the more power the dot uses. The high end dots have much more efficient emitters (i.e. why the old Bushnell dots had super shit battery life) so they can afford to have a lighter coating. Pretty good review. The mount looks high (no co-witness) - have you tried mounting it using the low one?
@theuncouthtruth95513 жыл бұрын
I appreciate it. I don’t use low mounts because I have an unnaturally large bobble head and the absolute or lower 1/3 mounts are more intuitive and easier for me to use.
@Ewvande3 жыл бұрын
I think the reason you have a little bit of the green tint on the primary arms red dot is to make sure the dot does not wash out on a red target. It would be better to compare a MRO with a red dot because I think they have a little tint on the lens also.

Aimpoint aren’t any “crisper” than these dots. It’s your fuckin eye that decides if it’s crisp or not. Use a camera to look through these. You’ll see a perfect round dot in every single red dot out there. You aren’t paying 800 for the crispness. You’re paying for the name and toughness.
@theuncouthtruth95513 жыл бұрын
I’m aware of astigmatism and that most have it to one degree or another. That said. There are minor differences in the emitters ability to project a well defined circle. Aim point being very crisp and clean. I own both. If you think that this falls entirely on the shape of the cornea, you would be incorrect. Anyway, you seem upset. If you disagree, that’s cool. 🤷🏼♂️ just a KZbin video bud. I don’t edit and give it a go in one shot of the top of my head and what I think about a given product.
