Dude, I'm glad you've covered this! I feel like I've tried it and I was blown away at what you can throw at it, but it never seems to get the recognition it deserves. I've been using Obsidian and love it, but I can't get over the fact that they won't Open Source it. Trillium is looking more tempting for my next switch! To anyone reading my comment, don't forget to Thumbs Up DB's videos!

I used Trillium notes at its beginning, a few years ago, and it was already a robust app, with a lot of features. I'm so glad to see the evolution of this app, which seem to be regularly maintained ! I think I gonna go back and try it again, but I'm just missing the mobile app... Anyway thank you for this great review about this app which deserve much more success!! 🙏

6:22 - just wow, this is an epic, dream come true note taking application, always wanted something like this, super advanced and simple to use note taking. I like how it makes a 3D neuro mind map that shows how notes are connected together.

I wish I could find an alternative to Evernote that has all the things I’ve become so accustomed to. I wish Trilium was it. Or Joplin. Or anything, really. I hate Evernote but I’m stuck because I’m spoiled by the web app, the iOS app, the Share with > Evernote functionality on my iPad, the outstanding web clipper and all it’s options, the tagging (“cloning” notes into a hierarchical tree structure?! Hello, Windows 95!) etc. I wish I was willing to give *any* of that up - but what I really wish is that I didn’t have to.
@sungiant2000
@sungiant2000 2 жыл бұрын
I can't say I relate in terms of evernote specifically, but I definitely understand the struggle. With that being said, FOSS projects have gotten SO much better over the last couple of years - I think the time when we won't have to compromise *anything* is coming very soon.

if you choose to keep your data in your own volume that's also in a shared folder, then you will have to chmod 777 -R the "data" folder that it creates.

I did that and it did create the database file but I still get the error "database is locked" in the logs. Interestingly I was able to fudge it by copying an already established database from another share. It's weird. Trilium is the only docker app I use that has that issue. Which sucks because I REALLY like Trilium but it can be a pain to stand up sometimes when using shares as the location for the database.

My biggest gripe with Linux os' in general is it seems that uninstalling/reinstalling is a total breaking point for any application. I've uninstalled Trilium and later came back to reinstall it, fails to open. Seems this is something I experience so frequently with any Linux distro. Perhaps it is my inexperience with Linux but to me, it seems that should work far better in Linux than Windows.
