I used to have to trek to Norwalk Middle Earth or Los Angeles Sunset Tower in order to find Gilbert and Lewis releases. I had everything they put out up to the He Said releases! Classic Underground !!! Kluba Cupol is still amazing to hear!

Thanks for posting! I listened to this so much in 1980. I preferred it in 33rpm too. So good to hear it again.

Hi agree with Pulsehouse. I know that 33rpm is SUPPOSED to be the correct speed but have always played my copy at 45rpm and have grown to know and love this piece at that speed. I played it to my university music lecturer back in the mid-1980s as an example of what was happening in the contemporary alternative-popular music scene. He was normally very dismissive of any new music that wasn't either contemporary classical or from a university-based electronic music studio, but in this case he was deeply impressed.

Sounds great, even at double speed on KZbin. (Of course, there's no real hi- fidelity when listening to ANYTHING on KZbin..) Very tribal/trance-inducing at 2X. Nice & alien at any speed.

I picked this up sometime in the mid-80s at a long-gone record store on Seventh Avenue and Twenty-first Street in Manhattan - Pyramid Records. At the time I was disappointed with Cupol, hoping for something closer to Wire's sound, but now I really do appreciate the very focused, controlled progression.

usually listen to this at 45. I wish I had a good 78/16 rpm turntable

pulsehouse, 33 r.p.m. is the right speed. I love this tune. It is probably intended to be a "dub version" of the A-side, Like This for Ages. :)

Um .....I always played this side of this record at 45rpm! I was always sure that it was the proper speed as it sounds correct and bloody fantastic! This sounds too slow. I know it says 33rpm (mistake?) on the label but ..........try it at 45! (it's still 15 mins long) :-)

I got that 3R4 material - if anyone is interested, let me know and I'll try to post it

Why does the recording end so abruptly? It builds so beautifully, gradually and slowly. Is there perhaps something missing on the end of this youtube version?
