If you add cutoff (if its that kind of effect you're using) to the music layer itself rather than the master you could keep the rain layer sounding like its in the foreground (unless you tried this and it muddies the mix too much)... Have checked a few of these out and they are cool (like the oldies ones) but was a thought on how the rain could be more pronounced.. A trick I use on some of my home efforts is to have the same layer of rain duplicated in my daw x4, then reduce volume of them all so they are at a good level and not overpowering the music (I do super slowed down music myself with rain added but not here on youtube). Then if you set each rain layer up with a +/- pan so *1= 60%L, 2=30%L, 3=30%R, 4=60%R.* this tends to give a wee bit of "space/dimension" I find (though I also use Replika very subtly in the mix to great effect) Just some thoughts, hope they are taken well :)
