I only have a wee garden here in Scotland so have pruned my black lace elderberry, viburnum and smoke bush into trees. Gives me so much space underneath for planting. All of them are around 8ft tall and I love them. Have a great day everyone 😀

Hi Laura you’re the absolute best! You’ve inspired me to start gardening around 6yrs ago (I’m 15 yrs old) and you’ve been a HUGE inspiration! Is that elderberry ornamental? Or does it produce actual elderberries?

@@dianequist835 Hi there! I was raised in British Columbia, CanadaI I now live in Eastridge, just south of the airport!. Sold my acreage, and livestock, moved into a tiny house with a very large yard, 6,000 sq ft of grass and no garden! I grabbed my pickaxe and started making garden beds immediately! Seriously, the livestock were less work but not near as much fun! Enjoy the rest of summer Diane and happy gardening!

What a transformation! I love the elderberry and it's new shape. The view through the arbors is delightful. The path takes your eye to rest on that glorious willow in the back. Perfection! The growth of that elderberry is similar to how Crape Myrtle’s grow here. Crape myrtles are trained into a 3-7 trunk tree or can be left to put out shoots and form a shrub appearance. Elderberries grow everywhere here because we stay so moist. I can not imagine anyone buying an elderberry because you can just transplant from somewhere else on the property. It was such a satisfying video!! After seeing all of that cleaned up I feel like doing some of my own trimming this morning.

Laura, in the places where the elderberry popped up near the base of the main plant, you can dig down and remove it (it will have its own root ball) from the main shrub, then you'll have another one to plant somewhere else, maybe in the South property. That shrub propagated itself for you. Yay, a free plant! When I first started gardening years and years ago, I would pin the branch of a shrub to the ground, cover it with soil (pinned down with a rock), keep that section of the pinned-down branch well-watered, and in about a year, roots will have formed on the new shrub. However, if that shrub is patented, you can't propagate it. If the patent has expired, you could sever the new plant off of the old one and plant it elsewhere. Have a wonderful week, stay hydrated, and take breaks if you plan on working in the garden. ~Margie🌞💚🦋🐝

I thought to myself, "She'll set up one camera on a tripod and we'll have one view of the entire job." Instead, once you get rolling, there are still a bunch of different camera angles! Same thing with this video. You sure have a high standard of content you put out and keep your videos visually interesting. * Love your vision of the Elderberry. Along with the surrounding area, it all turned out beautifully (love the little red scooter on the path)!💖

I started from about the time Benjamin was born and just finished with this video yesterday :-) My family moved into a "new to us" house last year with minimal landscaping, and thanks to everything I've learned from you, I'm looking forward to tackling it myself (with the help of my husband). Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge with all of us! I have a son who is turning 5 later this month and a daughter who just turned 1, so I love seeing you work in the garden or kitchen with your kiddos. Benjamin and Samantha are precious...and so is your mom! She is such a sweet, cheerful, classy lady, and I enjoy watching your videos with her as well. I saw on social media that she recently suffered an injury. I hope she is doing well and not getting too stir crazy! Question for you: are you or your mom Master Gardeners? My local extension office is offering a MG class soon, and I've been thinking about taking it.

I have a few shrubs that have been trimmed into tree form due to their habit and wanting to take over the whole space. Thank you for taking us along in this project and helping me realize, it’s not just me. I planted a few roses after watching you for a few years, and I swore I’d never do roses. But I follow your lead, when you fertilize, I fertilize, when you prune, I prune. So I very much appreciate every single rose video. I do wish KZbin gave us the ability to search within someone’s channel - June - Roses, and all the videos with roses made in June of any year would show up. That would be immensely helpful to my garden! I can I imagine you feel like you say the same things over and over and think we might tire of them. WE DON’T!! Thank you for all you do.

Pruning is a very satisfying job. I have always loved it. I was fortunate enough to be able to prune two of my neighbours 50 odd year old Bush and Standard Roses last week that had probably never been pruned correctly ever in the past. So excited to see how they come along. It is mid winter here in South Australia. Was a bit of a shock to my neighbours how much I removed lol. All good. Love your trim of the elderberry into tree form. It’s okay to experiment and see the difference immediately like that. I trim back several varieties of clematis about Jul 10 in Zone 6 Michigan and they are re-blooming in August for another show so garden experiments are worth a try. Love your excitement.

I love the videos where you take us along for chores. Something about it is so satisfying to watch! It's super hot where I am too. Hoping that it will come down a bit here soon.

Oh Laura you should definitely do the vista view with the fountain! ⛲ I feel it would fit the formality of the space as well as giving good sound and ambiance. ☺️

That's a good idea, maybe putting a small bench under her newly trimmed back Elderberry. I can imagine the beautiful scent of sitting under lilacs, ahhhh!!

That project was satisfying to watch, as it was for you to do. Have you had to prune your Temple of Bloom yet? If not, could you show us when you prune it? Have a great week, everyone!
