DLG feels to me like the purest form of RC aviation. Beautiful planes, beautiful flight.

archivist17 agreed! It's just wonderful!
@lizhikai55872 жыл бұрын
It flies so elegantly. I used to fly my DLG with nose up, afraiding losing height. Today I watched your video and realized this. It's the same as HLGs'. When I'm flying HLG/F1Ns, it flies better because I can't control it after launching. Sometimes the plane itself flies better than that with too much control. It's not about flying techniques but about attitude...
@joshuawfinn2 жыл бұрын
Glad you picked up on this. I have a friend I'm constantly having to remind to push the nose down. I had a couple callers in F3K competition who told me over and over to push the nose down and I decided since they won lot, I should listen. Made a huge difference in my flying.

There are some really sweet bungee launch models out there. If you can ever get your hands on a molded 2m or F3B glider, the flying experience is even better than on this CX5 simply because of the size of them.

@joshuawfinn4 жыл бұрын
It's technically a 4 channel airplane, but I have roughly 10 mixes programmed into the radio. Since one of those mixes is dual ailerons, rolls are quite easy if you maintain speed.

These machines are impressive. But I would add the price in the equations before looking for the optimal solution. That's just me. :)
@joshuawfinn3 жыл бұрын
Price is definitely and issue, however in soaring, you really do get what you pay for, and performance of these models is unfortunately directly proportional to cost, both on airframes and servos. I was fortunate to get this model used for about 1/3 of its value, and if you troll around on rcgroups you can sometimes find similar deals. I saw a Stream NXT for sale this weekend for $250...killer price for a great airplane.

I (try to) fly an NXT, how does this cx5 compare?
@joshuawfinn4 жыл бұрын
I haven't flown an NXT but from what I've heard, the pilot workload is higher. NXT is good in wind but the 5 will outrun it, but still slows down well. A lot of the developers of the NXT participated in the development of the CX5 and the general consensus is that they made a better airplane.

Hello, what receiver are you using with the taranis, because I see that you use 1S lipo ...?
@joshuawfinn5 жыл бұрын
Emiliano Scovenna I'm currently flying the GRX6, but the D4R-II, X4R, and RX4R all run happily on 1s. Do monitor your voltage though, as there are interactions with high end servos which have led me to set a cutoff alarm at 3.8V.
@escovenna5 жыл бұрын
@@joshuawfinn hello again, I have an X4R but it says it works with 4v onwards, and I was wondering what happens when the lipo voltage is below 4v I am currently using lipo 2s with an ubec that reduces to 5v. but I would be interested to start using 1s lipos. that's why the question I'm using google traslate, I do not speak English. Thank you very much for answering
@joshuawfinn5 жыл бұрын
Emiliano Scovenna, the X4R is safe to 3.7V and possibly lower. Usually the servos will shut down the before the receiver does. You English translation is very good. :)
