Trimming Maltese Show Dog Coat with Scissors

Great video even though my dogs don't have drop coats. One of my dogs has really soft fine hair with a slight curl to it. It mats horribly. I struggle to groom her because the clippers push it down and even though I comb it up again, it's just so soft and she ends up looking like I used a weed eater on her. Any suggestions? Your little dog is beautiful!

The hair will cut uneven from dull clippers, a dirty or matted coat. I would bathe and de-matte the coat, then trim the body with a 5F blade, some areas you may have to go against the grain if the coat is too thin and slide through the blade. BUT do not go against the grain if there is mattes, you will pinch/ cut the dogs skin,

@@mariapiaceppaglia131 it depends on the type of coat it has. Some are easy and some are hard to maintain. At 6 months the coat is quite short and easy to maintain. It is a personal preference.

I have a 1 year old Maltese and I have on a clipped her feet in the bottom of her pads I'm letting her hair grow all the way out I'm needing help to know what shampoos to use and and conditioners and what oil she's the first Maltese I've ever had I've had Bichon

I wonder if they like their hair that long? I have a Maltese and her hair is about 3 inches long. I thought it was bad to leave conditioner in their hair.

She’s beautiful!! Is there a product to help with faster hair growth? You do such a beautiful job! I am just starting out and my Maltese is my first client. I would also like to know how to get full leg hair to possibly consider a Korean cut for my Maltese.

Coat growth is genetic, and also nutrition based. Not only that you can get breakage on the bottom of the coat from carpet, pavement, grass etc.
