I promise this isn't a hunting channel. I am a hunter so this is some of the work I have to do to prepare for hunting season. This video might help you understand the last of the land a bit too.

Looks to me like a couple of good perches! The deer will be after those acorns for sure. I live in an oak and hickory forest. It is about the only continuous forest on my side of the road. Sassafras Valley is where most deer cross the road going back and forth to the river bottom. So, I put a feeder in a clearing beside the draw down in the valley. I cleared sight lines between it, my back porch and shop window. We can sit on the back porch and watch them feed. It isn’t unusual to see does and fawns checking for food in the middle of the day. Bucks do too until the rut starts then they get scarce during daylight. I have a game cam shot of 11 deer feeding last winter. We don’t hunt them… but the neighbor up the hill does. He has harvested at least one big buck every year for the past 8. He keeps out a mineral lick. Last month, he brought by a couple hundred pounds of corn from his dads farm… I guess he didn’t want me to run out before the season started Good luck… hopefully your time will pay off in protein!!!

Thanks Dave. I'm actually just getting up to head out to my stand now. I haven't seen much here but my neighbor tells me he sees the deer come out of my woods and go into his field. So I guess all the work I've done around here hasn't completely chased them off. In the spring I plan to do some food plots. Probably plant some corn. I don't want to use a feeder since it can attract bears. They tend to act like huge rats and start getting into things and make it all a mess. Our property is family camp first, hunting camp second. So I won't go too crazy prepping for deer. Hope all is well!

@@LeeintheWoods good luck and happy hunting… right after I typed the comment I got a call from my 9 year old grandson. He had just harvested his first doe. It was 30 minutes from the end of youth hunt weekend here In Missouri. He and his dad had spent hours in two tree stands watching and waiting. To prepare… He has spent days shooting his .22 rifle learning safety & honing his skills at aim, shoot and reload. He had actually only shot a half dozen rounds through his brothers .243 single shot… numbers 7&8 gave him the biggest thrill if his young life. When he called, he was practically screaming with enthusiasm as he described the whole experience to me. He was excited, his dad was proud and I was overjoyed at his first excursion into hunting. As soon as deer season is over, I’m gonna introduce him to squirrel hunting! Lee, young or old… a day ‘in the woods’ is good for the soul!
