My name is Alan Charles (the Trini Surfer) and I am here to show you the beauty of my home country TRINIDAD and the rest of the world on my TRAVELS.
An easy 30-minute nature hike takes you along a wide trail through a tonka bean plantation, red heliconias, bamboo clusters, exotic rain forest as well as several tropical species of fauna, indigenous to Trinidad.
Along the walk, you may even be lucky to spot a Red Howler Monkey in its natural habitat or parrots coming home to roost in the evening. The base of the waterfall is in an actual riverbed, which means climbing over some rocks, but it is certainly worth the effort. This is a three-level, 250-feet fall that is best viewed during the island’s rainy season. Otherwise it’s more like a trickle that produces a mist of water at the bottom.

Poisonous snakes, particularly mapapire are the main reasons for me not exploring in the bush in trinidad. way too risky IMO.

the waterfall in the thumbnail is not even the same one....the one in the thumbnail is probably Krangshuri Waterfall which is in Meghalaya, India

CDA has tour guides that you could have easily reached out to for assistance on the trail - next time nah!. Fun facts: Edit Falls also was a tonka bean plantation. The strongest water flow at the fall happens after it rains but it is also the most dangerous time to hike (rocks come down with the water too), otherwise its pretty much a trickle. I addition to the Howler and Capuchin monkey encounters, you can run into Porcupines, Mapapi/Mapepire and Black Cribo. The latter which are snakes love being around the heliconia/balisier plants (surprised you guys did not see any). And finally, sometimes you can see tak tak and Bird Nest Spiders (nocturnal).

This location was my first ever hike. I was in secondary school at the time (early 00s) and it was through our environmental club that I was exposed to hiking and just the start to seeing my beautiful island.
