Never that high. Base copies have been around 45-50 tops. There was a blip that made it look like it was that high, but none were sold in that range.

@@kylecabrera142 Not really, the blip did nothing to help you sell that at 40. The card went up to 46 (actual price), which is the reason you got 40. They're sitting at 37 tcg low, so you got about what it's worth. Not really much of a flex, but good on ya.

@@Sweetguy1821 Haha yeah, def has that effect. What deck? I run it in Vhal + Tavern Brawler for infinite colorless that can't be spent on spells from hand. Slight limitation, but still a major wincon.

Weird, Shuko went up, and lightning greaves didn't, I assumed that costing 1 more mana is the reason, and now Umbral Mantle went up and lightning greaves still hasn't What am I missing?

I don’t personally think ambral mantle went up because of Nadu, it’s really really bad. Also the reason why lightning greaves are bad is because it gives the creature shroud so you need multiple creatures to switch between with your shuko

Greaves can’t retarget whatever it’s equipped to, as that creature will then have shroud.

Lightning Greaves also gets reprinted in commander decks sometimes, while Umbral Mantle and Shuko haven't received any meaningful reprints (Mantle had a reprint on The List or something similar but those don't move prices very much).

Personally, i think its because Greaves has had a crap ton of reprints while Umbra Mantle only had 1 with planeswalker simbols at random and Shuko has only had one from Kamigawa.

yeah, until nadu gets banned. Haven't even played against it yet, but it looks so busted.With just nadu and that equipement and another creature, you can draw four cards on each of your turns for free and the lands you draw are extra land drops. It's bolt proof and when your opponent puts some other removal spell on it, you even draw another card, or if you have a good way to target your creature on the opponents turn, too, which there sure are plenty. And a 3/4 flying for 3 mana isn't that bad either.

Watched it all weekend at Pro Tour MH3 and I can say, without a doubt in my mind, that this card is BUSTED WIDE OPEN. Nadu decks were 26% of the field day 1 with a 58.4% win rate, 78% conversion rate from day 1 to day 2, 5/8 decks in the Top 8 were Nadu decks, and there was an all Nadu semi-finals/Finals. THIS IS NOT OK. Congratulations Simon Nielson, PT Amsterdam Champion! On a sadder note, Mtg Hall of Famer and the best magic player ever, Kai Budde, has announced that he has been diagnosed with cancer. Wizards has named the Magic Player of the Year award after Kai to honor him.

EDIT: There's a commander specific rule that explicitly says these effects don't work. It's the last rule on the official commander website. Annoyingly it's not mentioned in any of the card rulings and the CR actually contradicts the official commander website (see rule 903.11) -According to Wizards, it should, as they pretty much always have a ruling with "outside the game" cards that says in casual games it's any card in your collection, but in sanctioned play it's your sideboard. Because of that last part, most players say it doesn't work bc commander has no sideboard-

I am confused where people say Wish doesn’t work in commander. I look up ruling and you are allowed to used cards outside of the game according to MTG rules and unlike other formats you literally are allowed to use any not just a sideboard

Where are you finding one for that price? TCGPlayer shows the cheapest Umbral Mantle at $15 for a heavily played and my LGS is selling them for $25 NM, as well as buying them for $15 each lightly played. I'd be happy to make a bit of profit if you can tell me where to get one for $3.

Last week, i was actually talking with a friend about Umbra Mantle and were surprised on why it had not rised in prices because of Nadu. Sure you might never use it for its untap ability but you dont play Nadu for activated abilities anyway. I guess everyone just remembered that it existed.

The one thing that I took away from all this is that Wish is only a 3 mana spell.. A 9th level spell is only 3 mana.. but divination, which is a 4th level spell costs literally the same amount of mana..
