I work in an industrial beef slaughter and packing company. USDA is not working up to standard. There were any times we should have been temporarily shut down. My girlfriend also worked there as a QA (quality assurance). She told me that with briskets once theyve been processed the final stage is to inject them with some kind of liquid mixture just to make them seem bigger and heavier because at the end of the day it all comes down to money. Also, the washing the meat part they talk about, when the meat is on the production line towards the end before they get to the packaging team it goes under some sprayers that spray this "sanitizing" mixture to keep the meat free of pathogens. When i was selected to go to a safety meeting that included very little people the guy holding the meeting said that just a drop of that substance without being diluted would clear a room thats about 15ft by 15ft of all adults very quickly. Yet we we douse the meat in a diluted version of this stuff. I have so many stories its just unbelievable.

"Stop being a consumer and start being a citizen! Build community through buying local food" I love this concept and stand by this in my own life. We adjusted the way we were spending and prioritized local meat and raw milk from our small farmers in Virginia. It is a big shift because it can be more expensive but our health has improved and we cut back our spending in other ways. If you can, buy local and organic.

We need to talk about FDA doubling sulfur levels in animals foodstuffs. This comes from sulfuric acids used in processing and preserving foodstuffs. The DDGS contains sulfuric acids residue destroying vitamins and minerals and stopping absorption of vitamins and minerals. This makes meat stink if high enough levels and tuff meat. This damages the health of animals and humans. Most this is in grains products.

As I understand it, they have the go-ahead and permits etc. To proceed. It's supposed to only process livestock from local ranchers to the areas of western Nebraska, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota as an example. I'm an agricultural Electrical Contractor, when I'm home. Local to Wheatland Wyoming. I've been in Southern Nevada working for a while now and haven't been able to get the info first hand as of late, but in my mind this would be a great thing.

Thank you, Trinity. Your channel and guests never fail to educate and enlighten us! I'm from IN. we bought beef directly from the Amish back then. Our neighbor's/friends shared sides, a local butcher would cut, and package. You could rent a locker & or have a freezer in the garage. Nothing compares, nothing tastes better than farm raised beef! Sadly, I moved to Ca... Though I bought property that was permitted and coded for cattle, at the time, my local town officials, Without, a 🗳 vote... other than their 2 city hall meetings, changed the land use code! Making it a violation to keep split hoofed species! I was told by the mayor at a local restaurant meeting with our livestock association. Who didn't even live in within our Town Limits at that time, that they drove around & counted the livestock, and "The cows and horses were going away." Ultimately... we lost, and my property values went down as well! At every turn, citizens' rights are being impacted... I live in the High Desert 🏜 of Ca. less than 2 miles from where Roy & Dale Evans lived. They changed the land use code once again to allow a quiet sale for a Wal-Mart Superstore location as well (less than a mile from my property) and our Town Hall. But this time, the public stood up for our way of life and why we moved here. But, we must be willing to fight diligently to save what little we have left. Go to your local City and Town meetings, or you'll become the 🐑🐑🐑, and wake up, to "Their World View... Not Ours🏇" Before it's too late! God bless yah all, from a proud cowgirl!🙏

And you dont hv to live out west, i live in north GA and we hv plenty no thier not a big rancher like out in the grassland out west but thier enough to supply thier little communities..Yes its a little higher but is your family not worth it! But if you figure it all out all the way to the end of the slaughter then its really not that much more,you may say i cant afford to buy a whole cow well get 5 people or however many just 2 whatever and yall go in on one cow and split the meat between everyone that put thier money in it,its not that hard or expensive if you do this. My neighbor and i go in half on a cow and the meat last both my family and his all yr.. both of us hv a family of 4 per household. Now we don't go wild on eating it but it does last us, and its so much of a better meat.

Rabbit meat is one of the cleanest healthiest meats that you can consume. It is relatively inexpensive to produce and requires little in the way of space which means even City dwellers could actually raise their own meat. There is also the additional by-product of the pelt and the fertilizer. I tried this as a business back in the early seventies but I decided I didn't like killing bunnies for a living either.

It’s not just beef, I used to drive refrigerated trucks and haul broccoli from Laredo to Kent Washington and then back to Arlington Texas and then open up the doors of my trailer and I would have all these little boxes of broccoli stamped Made In the USA and this was in February there’s no broccoli 🥦 being grown in Texas in February and get unloaded at Walmart Distribution. So I agree 100% with you. We catch wild pigs and load them up in a livestock trailer and then haul them to Dallas for slaughter and processing into boxes to be flown to France and sold as “Wild Boar”. It used to be horse meat being transported to France but now it’s wild pigs.
@africkinamerican8 ай бұрын
The idea that trucking broccoli up from Mexico (I assume), across the Rockies all the way up to Washington, having a facility box it, then truck all the way back to Texas, under expensive refrigeration the entire way, is more cost-effective than producing and cold storing it locally, is mind-boggling to me. There have to be a bunch of non-economic incentives (tax, regulatory) behind these goofy practices.

I have noticed when I grab meat in a pinch (usually forget to thaw something) from a grocery store my stomach doesn’t feel right and often upset. Unlike when I cook beef product from the rancher/locker. A young couple of friends of mine in Az are similar with any protein his wife eats from the grocery store resulting in a frequent trip to the ER. But fish they catch themselves, wild game and protein direct from ranchers she is always ok with. Stuff in the stores is chemically added poison anymore.

Great piece... frightening, but a great one. If you are looking to get local beef, pork, lamb, and poultry, a lot of farms go to farmers' markets year-round. Granted, if you are outside of a city, you can find local farmers' markets easily, but for the last twenty years all the meat I get comes from local farms. A lot of the restaurants who are marketing their high-end meats around me? Same thing, they go to those same farms. I ran into a family at the winter market in Sheboygan twenty years ago that's raised lamb for generations, invites customers out to their farm every year to see their operation, the animals they raise, and it is the best lamb I've ever had. Beef and pork come from a family farm in the same county. Get a box from their twice a year with a lot of different cuts, all from their farm. I want chicken, I go to one of the farmers I've met at these markets, and buy chickens from them. It's harder in a city but, most of these farms, a lot of different family operations throughout the midwest and up in Montana now, ship from their ranches and farms. It's better-tasting food. Not that much more expensive but wildly better quality. When I was a kid growing up on the East Coast, we never bought seafood in a grocery store. We'd go to some place like Sea Isle City in South Jersey for fish that was so fresh off the boat it was still kicking. What amazes me is that with all the agriculture, all the livestock raised in Montana, they aren't producing for local groceries. All that livestock is shipped out of state, slaughtered, processed, and then shipped back to stores in the state. Check out your local farmers' markets and websites for local family farms.

@brendanjparedes... Wonderful comment, and helpful, it requires planning, given when a Farm harvests their animals. But healthier for us all, worth the effort, and supports the men and women who sincerely care about our land, resources and countrymen🇺🇸
@brendanjparedes9 ай бұрын
@@c.a.5808 Not as much planning as you think. At least not around me! lol. Most farms and ranches in this part of Wisconsin deep freeze and vacuum seal a lot of meat, in addition to what goes up for sale around harvest time, so you can get a pretty steady supply. So, what we see at our market is pretty steady in terms of supply throughout the year. It's still a relatively new business model around here. For folks around urban centers, you probably should start looking on the internet for farm-to-table outfits. Just a thought. But, if customers are demanding higher quality meats, and those small ranchers are making money from say, farm-to-table internet sales to yuppies in New York or Chicago, DC, Philly, then that will force some pretty big changes on quality in the packing business. Takes time, mind you, but seems to be potential... IF you have enough packing and processing capacity in your area... like I said, it's a thought. I'm always on the lookout for new vendors in case an old one goes away.
