I'm Filipino and my girlfriend is Mexican. It's interesting to see that we have A LOT more similarities with Mexicans than we do with our fellow Asians. There's a book called “The Latinos of Asia: How Filipino Americans Break the Rules of Race” by Anthony Christian Ocampo that explains why there's so much cultural crossover (obviously a lot of it has to do with having the same colonizers, but there's a bit more to it).
