why edge the totems like that? is there a benefit or is it just for fun

while you are inside the room, the poison does more and more damage until you die. So the only way to solo a side is to edge the totem while waiting outside the room to avoid dying to poison

any tips on how to solo the side? im trying to do it on normal with some buddies but i cant get the timing right on when to go back in to the room, or where to stand to edge it

The most consistent way in my opinion is to wait for annihilator totem to show up, then pull out your sword and swing. Then you stand on the plate until you hear the totem locking sound then you eager out of the room.
