Schubert must have loved his own great theme in the Andante so much that he wouldn't/couldn't let it go. Back in the Finale, and lots of it. What a cornucopia of bliss. When you think (fear) he's done, there it is yet one more time, thank you :) It's like having multiple desserts, but without getting full, always pleasure. A "pleasure is the law" kind of guy, ante litteram. Yum.

This performance of Schubert's masterwork is outstanding in every respect: from the interpretation of the musicians, the camera angles and split screen views to the well balanced sound engineering. The players are truly at one with each other and the music. The symphonic dimensions of the piece are made apparent to the listener from first note to last, especially as the trio are brave enough to observe ALL of the composer's repeats (some of which are normally cut in other performances)! In short, a technical fluency and musical sensitivity which is beyond these musicians' years. Bravissimo Trio Gaspard!!

They are on fire! Incredible how they manage not only a solid performance of a breathtaking interpretation, but also so many details in tone and even something like sym-phonic sound effects! I don't think that I have heard anything like this before, even if there are many great recordings of the Op. 100 by many great and able artists.

yes, it is indeed incredible. Some of the finest work of genius, heartfelt, a journey through valleys, mountains, fire and the sky! I don't get how some people say that Schubert was still a classical musician. It does not get any more romantic than this, I think, it is just very German and thus not like e.g. the Russian romantics. Schubert was really one of the greatest musicians and composers of all time, a true poet!
