A fire at the entrance to Denali National Park has caused our plans to change. Come along as I figure out what to do when our Princess Lodge and Train plans got canceled. Costco shop with me and pack to head to our remote family cabin.

At 72 some people ask me why I am always making lists, double checking things , trying to organize big plans plus details, always having Plan A, B , C etc, and having a constant state of alertness and readiness to switch gears. Here in Western Canada we have hundreds of fires. In Jasper National Park in Alberta, the townsite has been evacuated due to fires close by. 🙏 for everyone.

Need to tell you, I take care of my three grandsons while Mom and Dad work. They are 5,3,and 9 months. I find it easier to have all three then just the baby. They occupy him so much even if they are not playing one on one with him. He watches everything they do even if they are not looking at him. So I totally get why its easier with a full house. Your a great Mom. I get it lol

Same thing just happened to us. Our Denali part of the trip was canceled due to wildfire. We were also supposed to do the train ride. We were displaced to Alyeska Resort for 3 days, where we enjoyed Girdwood and some hiking. We are from Connecticut and did a Holland America land/sea tour.

Oh those poor fire fighters and their families. All our prayers for them all. God Bless them and everyone effected by the fires. I can't wait for the train video. That will be so awesome. I heard a saying once. After someone's plans got cancelled and they were terribly upset. A wise old lady said " your right where God wants you to be".

Where I live we had to evacuate a National park and the town of Jasper AB and they have to go west because the east entrance is closed due to fires, and we are having a heat wave too, please keep us in your prayers and we will keep you in ours. I love your adventures at the cabin, I would love to do that again, So I go on the adventures thro your vlogs , God Bless

My sisters and I took that train to Denali State Park after we got off the cruise ship, flew to Anchorage, went to Fairbanks and from there got on the train. What an adventure. Prayers for the fire fighters. What heroes. Have fun on your trip.❤

I’ve done the Denali to Talkeetna train trip, from Anchorage. It’s amazing! I hope you get to go sometime. I know the Princess lodge you were going to stay in. We stayed at the Bluffs. The Princess lodge looks so nice. I loved the little town of Talkeetna. 😊. This all brings back such good memories.

Awe. I went on a train trip in Alaska. 😂our train broke down, and we had to wait for another train to come rescue us. Thank goodness my husband’s family were aboard with us. They make everything thing fun with their witty comments and puns. That watermelon price! Holy Moly! We get them for $5 here. Almost $12 seems a little overpriced even for Alaska.

I’m in Edmonton and as usual we are currently under air quality advisories due to wildfire smoke from all the fires in the north. Also have had several days of above 30C temps with no relief from thunderstorms anymore. Drought and heat domes and fire and smoke is just the new normal for summers now. I’ll take a polar vortex any day over this.

The grief never gets easier, does it? I've buried 2 of my 3 beautiful nieces. One was only 20 and died of a pulmonary embolism and one was 28 and was killed in a horrible accident. I'm okay some days and some days it just hurts so darn much! It's been 5 years since my oldest niece has been gone and 10 years since my youngest niece has been gone. You would think the grief would be so much easier by now, but it isn't. It's just as hard today as it was the day we lost them! We just learn to live with the grief! Who knows why horrible things happen to us! Hope we both understand why these sweet babies were taken from us too soon one day! I know you miss your Maggie as much as I miss my Amber & Cassi! By the way, my nickname for Violet is peanut because she is just the cutest little peanut ever! I love seeing her in your videos! She makes me cry sometimes because I know how grateful you all are that you have her! They are happy tears that she's here with her family! Thanks for sharing your life with all of us!

We were on the plane flying into anchorage on the 30 when the fire broke out. Princess sent us to McKinley lodge (by motor coach , they cancelled the train) but then sent us back to anchorage instead of Denali. So disappointed, it was a once in a lifetime trip. We got on the royal on the 6th . The way princess handled it was the worst and has left a horrible taste. Alaska was my 50th state, got it checked off, that was the highlight.

Wow 3:58 a gallon for gas. Usually your gas is much higher than hear in Maryland but ours is 3.60 per gallon. So happy to see sweet Violet she is getting so big and interactive.❤
