Basic Trip Planning. I am no expert, but I was asked to do a trip planning video, so I give a rough run through of how to trip plan. At Stevens Transport, as a grad student (the first 90 days solo) you are required to submit a written trip plan every day/trip. It is good practice, as doing it regularly at the start of a trucking career allows one to more easily plan in your head and make changes on the fly, as one gains experience. If I left out any important details, or should do any other specific topic videos, let me know in the comments below.

I'll trust my Atlas more than my GPS. I also will call the shipper or receiver for accurate directions as I get near.

I use the satellite on Google Maps, but it does occasionally mess me up, cause one gate is closed over another....ooops

Last week in northeast, Philadelphia I had platform science try to take me to a bridge that was 12’1” I was like fuck that lol and went the other way.

Yeah, sometimes it gets it wrong. Good catch obviously!! Some of those in the northeast are marked that way due to Ice build up. The 2 times I have been through NYC, I went under several bridges marked 12' something, but (on the required talk before going into the city), Safety told me which bridges would say that and which lane would still be fine to go under. Obviously, I only proceeded under them at their specific instruction.

Every brand new driver should...... untill you do it a few times you are likely to make mistakes if not worked out down to the minute.

Hey if u have time can u answer me this, if u work for Steven's and get fired/let go do u still have to pay back their tuition?
@fpstrucking
@fpstrucking 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. They paid for the training, so if you quit/get fired yes, you have to pay it back. Trust me though ,it takes a lot to get fired, as in continued negligence. Usually one thing won't cause it to happen. (Obviously there are a few exceptions. ) As a training company, they know that there will be issues, and I have seen quite a few drivers who probably would have been fired elsewhere, that did not get fired. A few more weeks of training, before putting them back in a truck.

The main thing is don’t do a uturn or kill anybody or drink on the job you be straight there’s a ton of micromanaging but it’s like that because all the new drivers over time they stop micromanaging as much
