Inflight experience of the first ever Austrian Airlines Boeing 787-9 flying on the first possible flight day 20th May 2024 between Frankfurt and Vienna Airport in new Business Class including a short tour in Premium Eco and Economy Class. It’s so interesting to see Hainan Airlines’ Dream Feather cabin on Austrian Airlines, especially with Hainan’s creamy business class seats fitted with Austrian’s seat coverings. This 787, along with Lufthansa’s first batch of 787s, were originally supposed to go to Hainan but it was not taken up because they weren’t doing well financially, even before Covid. Hainan only started receiving 787s equipped with the new cabin in 2019 and only ended up receiving 3 of them with this configuration, while the aircraft not taken up went to Lufthansa and Bamboo Airways. Ironic that of the 38 Boeing 787s in Hainan’s fleet, only 3 of them are in the new Dream Feather cabin, and there’s actually more dream feather 787s flying outside of Hainan Airlines than there are within their fleet

Two of unwanted Hainan B787-9s went to Biman Bangladesh Airlines as well. Original seating and covers still in place.

Just one correction to the Captain's pre take off announcement. It may be a brand new aircraft to Austrian Airlines but it is not a brand new aircraft.

Only brand new for Austrian, that's true since it's already more than 4 years old, but the feeling inside is still new.

It's good to see this plane in a good condition, it actually looked like brand-new. It's a shame QH decided to give up all of their B787s on the restructuring program.

It still feels like a new airplane although it's already more than 4 years old. At least AUA will use them from now on and it marks an improvement of their long-haul fleet.

Those seats are still the ones from Bamboo, same seat type in the Lufthansa Dreamliners yet, which Austrian will takeover probably next year.

Kein Hate gegen Austrian bitte. Den Ösis geht es immer noch um einiges besser als dem Sh.hole Germoney. Austrian und Swiss sind die Premium Produkte in der LH Group. LG aus der Schweiz
