I really love the look of the a340 and a310. Idk but when I see a a330 it's so common, but when I see a a340 it's woah. I haven't seen one of them in a while, then even rarer a a310, and actually has a good range.

Brilliant video! You got a really engine wing view on an A340-600, especially at the night and at the sunrise. You're super lucky to fly on it since many airlines are retired it on their fleet nowadays. Despite the old plane, I'm surprised to see the Etihad A340 cabin, the seats and the IFE are modern. It's sad to know that Etihad has retired all their A340s on their fleet :((. If I had a chance, I would fly on the A340-600 but it becomes more and more harder due to the pandemic. I immediately subscribe your channel for more videos about rare planes and about the A340s.

Very nice report. It was interesting that you commented about the gradual climb out. On an Etihad A340-600 flight from ORD to AUH (also Pearl Business Class), it was also a remarkably shallow climb out perhaps more so even than in your video. I actually wondered if there was something wrong with the aircraft since it barely seemed to climb. I remember having a very close view of the Chicago area neighborhoods. It must be a characteristic of this aircraft when fully burdened with passengers and fuel for the long flight.

Lovely Video! I've been on that flight in Business and First couple of times and my goodness the food selection is underwhelming in both classes. But the A340 is always a fantastic bird to fly!

I flew a340-500 twice and a340-600 3 times on Etihad from Abu Dhabi to Beirut and abu Dhabi to Munich on other a340,s.

Great video! Love the A340, especially with Etihad. Shame they retired them though. And yes ive also noticed that most A340-500 & 600s take offs are smoother and extreamly gradual compared to other planes.

It's smoother I guess it's bcus those engines r underpowered so its nose rises up smoother And I personally love a340s but in terms of marketing Many other planes r coming up with fuel efficiency and stronger trust engine so a340s r going down But they could simply upgrade them idk y they didn't

A340-500 and B777-200LR/300ER just love those! Flew the Emirates A340-500 and a brand new B777-200LR ON BOM-DXB Business Class (Upgrade with Miles), was very good!

I can explain the IFE-Issue to you: You flew on April 15th. Mid of month Etihad rolls out minor IFE-Updates (for example changing Series XYZ Episode 1-4 to Episode 5-8). When this is done the planes servers take some time to reorganize the data on the harddrive to it's needs. This is what causes the lagging. Normaly it works just fine. ;)

Very interesting! Thanks for that info. In that case, hopefully my next Etihad flight will not be mid month! Do you know if this is an issue on this specific plane / IFE system, or is it like this in general?

It mostly happens on the old A340s. The 330s and 777s use a newer IFE-Hardware-Version and therefore can do this reorganization within a few hours and are mostly finished while still on the ground. In the A380s and Dreamliners this problem became nonexistent, because the Architecture of the server has changed completely and there is absolutely no lag any more.

Another Wonderful review, but sadly either the food onboard, or at the lounge, both loon really disappointing. Which website do you book this EY ticket? Same website as you booked your previous CX trip? Next time try Hongkong or Tokyo as your stops, they have much better lounges:))

Yeah... I was especially disappointed with the lounge. I booked the EY ticket directly on Etihad website. Previous CX trip on the A350 was redeemed with Alaska mileage. I did get to check out The Pier and The Qantas Lounge in Hong Kong, and will be checking out the Sakura Lounge next year in Tokyo! :)

Those are the old 2006 ear seats, you may still find them on old B777-300er Still very comfortable but the TV and its remote control are out of date

the a340 is a beautiful aircraft, just not as fuel efficient as the twin-engine planes, and can't carry as many passengers as the a380. Sadly, it is becoming obsolete

Hope this flight from America wasn't scary... I would be 100% afraid flying from America (or as u would say South Korea) as its a war torn nation from the Korean war.... I would do my best than fly into America.
