After a longer time another long-haul flight. I flew from Helsinki Vantaa (HEL) to Tokyo Narita (NRT) with Finnair Airbus A350. Finnair becomes Europe's first A350 operator.

UPLOADS DURING SUMMER HOLIDAYS. There's a new video after a week's pause. During summer holidays there is less traffic on KZbin. This is the reason, why I changed upload frequency of my videos. In July is scheduled a new Trip report for every second week. In August I plan to return back to weekly uploads. Second change are a new posting days, which were changed from Sundays to Saturdays. Next Trip report (Barcelona to Prague w. Czech Airlines) will be uploaded on Saturday 21.7. Thanks for your favor.

Is the airport in Helsinki very busy?

@@mbudiongan In the peak times is bit busy, but transfers are very fast, for EU citizens are there automatic passport checks and normally is transfer from Shenzhen area to nonshengen area spend max. 25 minutes.. btw. after reconstruction is nonshenghen area pretty large :-) Btw. I have prepared to publish (in June) another Finnair video Helsinki - Singapore, where are visible a new gate areas..

Try Qatar and Cathay Pacific, you'll have another kind of very very nice experience on your next flight.. Irecommend Finnair yes, a good thing is them show connection flights but negative points are that VERY Small legroom, sometimes not always friendly stuff, them charge for alcohol and internet nor the food is not very surprising compared to other airlines

Thanks for comment! I also plan to fly these airlines. And yes, I also had similar experience on one of my flight with Finnair a few years ago, small legroom and no friendly crew (but it was European crew, Asian crew is more friendly on their flights I think).

Depending on the destination, many of their flights to Asia are operated with Asian crews, such as Hong Kong or Singapore. On our flight to Tokyo we has a mixed crew, but yes, the purser was Finnish :-)

@@PeteBrandy Totally! It must be great, here in Chile we don't have A350s. LATAM has, but on Brazilian routes. The plane that I would have liked to ride is the A340, it must have been wonderful (of course there are also other planes, the B747, A380, the Concorde, etc). Transfer at Vantaa is a pain. Especially if your first flight is late and you're in a rush to catch the next. I don't know if they don't have any air bridges at all, but every time I've flewn there it has always been stairs and buses from and to the aircraft. It makes it feel like a b-airport.

I think now its better, because been finished reconstruction of Non Shenghen area.. a few months ago I transferred at HEL to SIN and all flights departed via jetbridge and terminal was pretty empty :-)

that was a nice seat for leg room and also getting out:) Rolls-Royce Trent XWB's are the exclusive engine for the 350 aircraft. I wonder WHY AIRBUS has such noisy hydraulic pumps .......after a LONG ride.... welcome to NRT....great trip review Pete :)

When I was kid I flew with Finnair a350-900XWB and we were in business class but now I’m older and I was in Thailand. I got to there with Finnair a330-300 and it was a little smaller and older plane :,D

In my opinion A350 is very similar like 787 and much better than A330 in terms of cabin environment :-)

@@PeteBrandy SAS which I went with last time I went to Japan, which is a similar price, but was a slightly less impressive on board experience in comparison to what you showed in your review. Also compared with LOT, which looked like a good offering, but now can't find ticketing for the route I wanted :( Theres also Air China which appears to be the cheapest option by far, but seems to be you get what you pay for with it being the cheaper option. Also I don't really like the idea of a 10+hour layover between flights (UK to Japan is the route I'm actually looking at, don't mind a stop along the way if its a couple of hours)

Yes, one of flight to HEL operates Czech Airlines by SmartWings, but I flew with Finnair (flight AY1222). Finnair operates two daily flights from Prague to Helsinki.

Their new basic economy is used on the North American routes only where they have a joint venture with AA BA IB, meaning no free baggage or free seat selection.

I had 2 checked luggages for free as a Finnair plus member and one cabin bag + personal item (normally is 1 checked + 1 cabin for free in Economy). But seating is charged in Economy :-(

What I saw, direct flight No AY155/156 is usually operated by A350-900.. but there are no daily direct flights. Many days are operated flights via Bangkok - HEL-BKK w Finnair (some flights A350-900 and some flights A330-300) and next leg BKK-KBV operates Bangkok Airways on A319

The aircraft will be the same, only crew will be Chinese I think (same like on their flights to Hong Kong). Also some pax will be bit noisier than on flights to Japan :-D But I think you will enjoy A350 :-)

claus stimpfig Food and drinks are not a reason, why I flew with Finnair.. I think this meal was more tasty than normal economy food.. on way was ok both meals, on my way back was the first one good and the second one not.. Btw I'm choosey in the meal usually

claus stimpfig Finnair does offer alcoholic beverages during and after the first meal service. Sparkling wine is an option as well. And although this is a great informative video you can’t really say anything - especially anything bad about the inflight service based on this. My personal experiences with Finnair have always been delightful
