TRIP REPORT | My First Time on A318!! | AIR FRANCE | Barcelona to Paris

AIR FRANCE Trip Report onboard their little Airbus A318 from Barcelona to Paris on a sunny summer morning.
A very nice flight with lots of details, including a last-minute runway change, taxi over the runway, great views of the Pyrenees, overfly of Paris... all in all a great experience on this Air France A318.

Beautiful Trip Report. The A318 is a very cute aircraft. I managed to fly return DUB-CDG-DUB on it a few years ago. Service is usually good on Air France too, Nice to see they still do a basic service on their Inter-European flights.✈️

Muy bonito el video, siempre me gusta esa salida hacia el Mediterráneo desde el aeropuerto de Barcelona lo mismo que la aproximación y también las vistas en Francia cuando está llegando el avión al Aeropuerto Charles de Gaulle están genial, pero sin duda lo que me ha impresionado ha sido el Concorde ahi expuesto tenía que ser una experiencia increíble volar en el. Las restricciones de viaje siguen vigentes en Europa (mayormente, a modo de cuarentenas a la llegada a diferentes países). Quizás para verano 2021 sea posible hacer algo así... aunque mi objetivo para 2021 es dar el salto al largo radio! Saludos!

Thanks a lot, Anthony! Sad that only Air France is still operating it in Europe. British Airways had one to fly the route between London City and New York, in all business config. But before the pandemic the route was not very profitable... now it's closed (apparently forever). :(

@@OnBoardHD Yes, I saw the B.A A318 several times at LCY. There never seemed many passengers waiting for that flight, and I guess the enforced fuel stop at Shannon was a bit of a disincentive also. In the States, Alaskan fly several A318s, so when possible, they should not be too hard to find !

Air France is one of the best airlines out there, it has got luxurious cabins, friendly cabin crew and excellent lounges. I recently came across james asquith's review on la priemiere business and I am already planning my next trip with them!

Muy buen video, Iba a viajar en Air France desde Argentina a Valencia con escala en Paris , el 2 de Noviembre pero decidi postergarlo hasta Marzo , Air France es una de mis preferidas para viajar a Europa junto a Lufthansa , espero que para marzo ya este un poco mas controlado el problema de la pandemia, saludos desde Argentina , y a la espera del proximo video

Loved this trip report mate and flying on the babybus aircraft 🤓 It is a guess but was the French city you passed over Toulouse ? Maybe this babybus A318 was made in Toulouse ?

Thanks a lot, Brum :) I don't think it was Toulouse as it's quite easy to identify... I really don't know the city, that's why was asking hehe I also don't know where were the A318 built. I know that the A321 are built in Hamburg, while other Airbus are in Toulouse...Good question :P

Flew with AF from Belgrade to CDG in January, it was on an A320 if i remember

I flew AF in Apr 22. CDG to MAD on our way to Tenerife. A320 to Madrid and was supposed to be an A220 on the return but like 2 hrs before departure it swapped to an A318. Did not complain at all. Porlly the only time i will ever fly a 318 being as i live in the US. But Air France seats where very snug. I am 6ft6 and those are the most cramped seats i had ever been in seat pitch wise. I pointed it out to the F/A who let the gentleman in front of me know please do not reine because of my knees. The guy was very nice and understanding. Especially when my G/F showed him a picture of how scruntched i was. But other than that it was a pleasant experience with AF. Also if you get a chance to give something other then chocolate to the F/A they love it. In Texas we have Buc-ee's and they have some of the best taffy. We gave a bag the the AF crew and they loved it. I am sure they love chocolate but when they get something different it makes them happy. Plus you can ask my G/F i am a bad chocoholic and i do not share my chocolate with anyone not even my G/F. Great trip report as always.

Once I was landing at Corfu airport (this way last year!) and I was parked up right next to a Brussels airlines plane, and it had actual Smurfs painted on the plane! I also landed at about 11 pm. I don't know about you but I actually prefer traveling during sunset time.

La única diferencia respecto al resto de la familia 32X es que sólo tiene una única salida de emergencia sobre cada ala, no?? Para vuelos de media distancia no está mal, aunque yo prefiero los CRJ o los Embraer por la configuración de los asientos. Buen video!! 😊

Pues la verdad es que no lo se... de Airbus se lo mismo que cualquier otro fan de la aviación jeje Hay A319 con sólo 1 salida sobre el ala. Que tenga 1 o 2 depende del número de asientos que tenga el avión, pues que tenga 1 o 2 depende del número de pasajeros que hay que evacuar. Debe ser posible hacerlo en menos de 90 segundos con la mitad de las salidas de emergencia inutilizadas. Saludos!

Según tengo entendido, uno de los problemas por los que las compañías han quitado los A318 es por el espacio en ambas bodegas con los equipajes.

Pues la verdad es que no había escuchado eso nunca del A318. Si bien, también es cierto que pocas veces nadie me ha hablado del A318... Me consta que para aerolíneas con operativa HUB los Embraer son un dolor de muelas en el tema de las maletas de bodega. Interesante que el A318 también tenga estas pegas... Saludos!

Me alegra que te haya gustado, Gerardo! :) Los aviones se clasifican en clases y tipos. Una clase son los jets, otra son los de motor de pistón (de 1 y 2 motores), etc Dentro de los Jets hay tipos. Forman parte del mismo tipo aquellos aviones que son muy similares en cuanto a su forma de operar y características de vuelo. Por ejemplo, el A318, A319, A320 y A321 forman parte del mismo tipo, y cualquier piloto que tenga una habilitación para volar un A320, puede volar los demás con un pequeño curso de diferencias. Lo mismo ocurre con el Boeing 737, forman parte del mismo tipo el -600, -700, -800, -900 y el MAX. Otros tipos son, por ejemplo, A330/A340; B757/B767/B777; todas las variantes del A350; todas las variantes del B787. Respondiendo directamente a tu pregunta, un piloto de A320 no puede pilotar un B737 (excepto que tenga expresamente la habilitación para hacerlo, cosa que no suele suceder).

Es la Power Transfer Unit (PTU). Transfiere energía hidráulica de un sistema a otro, en este caso, para la retracción del tren de aterrizaje. Es un "ruido" completamente normal en los Airbus. Saludos!

Es un vuelo de AF compartido con KoreanAir (AF1149=KE6344) . A318 se ve muy pequeño respecto a A320 jajaja.

Curiosamente, esa pista es la que más se utiliza para despegues y aterrizajes, ( al igual que la que cruza para los aterrizajes de noche ) pero la paralela al despegue de hoy, muy poca

@@OnBoardHD no no, me refería a la de Barcelona, la pista por la que habéis despegado, es la que más utiliza el aeropuerto, tanto para despegues como aterrizajes, la paralela en cambio no, la pista que cruza, que es la 02, se utiliza mayormente de noche

En Barcelona la pista 25R es la habitual para aterrizajes, mientras que la 25L (por la que acabamos despegando en este vídeo) es la habitual para despegues.
