Hey John, I got a question first thank you. I know this has been two years since you made this video so my question is do you do the technique the same as you did two years ago and are you still boiling them when you do the heavy dye also how long do you leave it in the boiling bathbefore pulling it and do you ever use cold water to rinse? Thanks for the information. I’ll see you soon on some social media I’m sure.

what kind of spray bottle do you use for applying soda ash like the one people spray cats with? or like a regular dye bottle?

When you said, "unwrap" did you mean out of the plastic bag or unwrap the sinew and fishing string? Boil still tied or "unwrapped"?

Thanks again for your tutorial Jon! Do you use chemical water? Do you soak in soda ash before dying? 🙏🏽
@kariann2262 жыл бұрын
It doesn't look like u used sinew much on them at all. So wrapping them up like a geode with sinew is gonna give u a very diff effect ? I went back through with a ton of fish line Cris crossing the lines so it makes a net looking design. We'll see. I will send u the results on FB when I get done. Just tied up tonight. Thanks!
@kariann2262 жыл бұрын
Can u do this method with ice? Also I just tied up some geodes and decided to try adding fishing line to it. Is it pretty much the same thing? Also I'm having issues making the nubs just cuz I don't really get how you're gathering it and bunching it. And do u put a lot of sinew layers around them like geodes and do u wrap it up like a geode patten or just enough to hold it together?

I love these videos! I'm having trouble with the soda ash step. I've done this with a few shirts, and it seems like all of the darker dyes just run over the lighter dyes and completely distort the colors. Do you have any suggestions on how to avoid this?

Thank you for letting me know the test of the line. I’ve seen some others use it but they never say what size. Have you tried other sizes or would the thickness not make too much difference?
@tripteamtiedye-jonriley50013 жыл бұрын
I have tried others but #20 is strong enough to pull tight without breaking and still thin enough to bind on itself andeave good string detail.

@@tripteamtiedye-jonriley5001 thanks! And now for a totally irrelevant question, who is the band doing the “trippy” Pink Floyd when you are applying the yellow dye. I assume it is live and Shazam couldn’t figure it out. Not quite loud enough for me to get a good listen, but it sounded great.
