My passport was stolen in Barcelona I literally only needed my passport number and the money to get a new passport and photo that was it just go to the Embassy with your passport number and you will be fine in fact they wouldn't let me bring in my phone that had photos of all of my identification I had a new passport in 2 hours. my passport is a replacement..good for 1 yr..Nd was 140. again it took 2 hours.

@@TripAstute yes my passport and wallet with all identification was stolen in Barcelona and I was on a cruise. I made a port authoeiry report and I took that report to the Embassy in Rome.. where we finished our cruise. there they were able to very quickly expedite a passport for me that will last one year. I can easily however get that extended for 10 years without paying additional fees. It was all far easier than I ever thought that it would be honestly the American Embassy is amazing and they are a great help to Travelers who has been robbed.

I'm fr jamaica i lost my passport this summer right before the day when I was to return, the officer informed me to go to the consulate after giving me a police report, I was in N.Y. so I went to Manhattan where the consulate located, and everything went well, luckily I had my passport number so I could provide them with it along with $60 a passport picture and a application form and since I miss my flight i had to book a ticket because they needed the ticket information to put in the temporary document they prepare for me.

I had to obtain an emergency passport in Australia. It’s difficult to locate a number to speak with a consular officer or anybody else in the embassy. So I would advise going to the embassy during business hours with the backup identification and documentation detailed in the video. The emergency passport is good for your immediate travel and entry only into the United states, but good for 12 months of identification regardless. You pay the same fees as a regular passport, including the expedited processing. I believe it was around $190 USD when I did mine November 2019. You have to apply in person, and can pick up whatever form of Passport you have paid for at the embassy/consulate. Remember, most countries require six months of validity remaining on your passport before they will grant entry into the country. Good luck all- Cheers

Yes! I just got a passport card the last time I renewed my passport, and carry it as well. It's definitely looks nicer than the photocopy! 🙂

The passport card is nice to have. It is a federal I.D., proves your identity U.S. citizenship and makes it so you can leave your passport book locked up in the hotel if there is a safe where it's less likely to be lost. If you lose your passport book overseas the card is not good for international air travel and WILL NOT get you home. It is only good for land and sea border crossings in the western hemisphere.

There are some countries, loosing a passport in can get you in serious legal trouble with the local laws if the government has very strict travel laws for foreigners. Malaysia and Thailand are two such examples of over reactive laws that can no longer make a distinction between illegal immigrants and legitimate business/tourist travelers who just happened to be robbed. You just might end up in a foreign jail for being robbed.

First was reported lost by me and second a valid passport but without a valid US Visa. Can I travel on my new passport along with the old passport having a valid US Visa. Please advise sir

That’s a complicated situation. I would contact the State Department to get their advise. You’re officially supposed to return old or lost passports to the State Department. But since you need a new visa, you’ll likely need to get a new one that is associated with your new passport.

Sorry to hear about your situation. It must be extremely stressful. There are some reports (based on others who have commented recently) that emergency passports are delayed. However, I would still try to contact the local passport agency in the area and see what they can do.
