I have recently returned from Washington D.C., and it's a fantastic city! So much to see, great food and super interesting museums. I did make a mistake, though. I bought something to drink from one of the street vendors with the coolers. $5 for a bottle of coke was not what I expected to pay, but it was warm and I was thirsty and desperate. Is this a well known tourist scam, or is it just how it is in general?
@RaulSanchez-kx8en Жыл бұрын
I doubt coke is $5 dollar.

@@RaulSanchez-kx8en I paid $5 for one. A street vendor with a cooler charged me that price
@juicy202 Жыл бұрын
Yes, this is normal. $5 is not a bad price. There are virtually zero places to find refreshments on or near the Mall, other than food trucks or sidewalk vendors.
@eddie_saunders Жыл бұрын
Depending on where you're at, you can go a few blocks, or pop into a museum for refreshments. Outside of it being cold, it's likely not going to be much cheaper though.
@DannyPhilipsen Жыл бұрын
@@eddie_saunders I was at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, which was where I bought the soda. There's a little place called Refreshment Food Store across the street from the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, where I got a pizza, fries and a large drink for around $18. I should have gone there in the first place for refreshments

I’ll be coming to DC with my family by end of july… which area do you recommend for a nice family Sunday brunch???

Just found your channel and I’m very thankful for your content! My son and I are coming to DC next week. I’ve got 2 questions for you. 1. I have White House tour reservations. Do they allow earbuds for the audio tour? Do you recommend that or just go and enjoy without the audio your? 2. I’d love to show my son around the mall at night. Is DC still pretty safe after the sun goes down? It’s been since 2017 since I was there so I’m excited to show my son around for the first time!

Excellent video Rob! Interesting point about the metro system - when I was there in March I didn't see any issues, but can only imagine what it was like during covid. One question though - any updates on when the Air and Space museum renovation will be finished?

@@TripHacksDC The Air & Space Museum is closed again?! I thought they reopened last fall :(
@rollsorferrari Жыл бұрын
@@katietherese1996 I don’t think it’s closed, but when I was there a few months ago about half of it is closed due to renovation. Still cool to go see what is open though.

How would you recommend getting from the Wharf to the National Mall? Is it walkable? Metro? Is it too much of a pain to drive? Thank you!
@timothycampbell9762 Жыл бұрын
I would recommend taking the free shuttle from the wharf and getting off at L'Enfant metro station, and the Mall is a couple blocks away

Question. When we visit, we were planning on van camping in union station. Will that be a problem? It's a normal looking van.

Me and my Husband stayed at the Hilton National Mall / The Wharf. It is a 5 minute walk to the Wharf. 10 Minute walk to the Natural History Museum and 15 minute walk to the National Mall. The Spy Museum is across the street. The Metro is literally under the hotel, We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and we found it to be the best central location. Hope you enjoy your visit!
