I talked to Gen. Olds in 97, I called him at his home in Steamboat Springs.I asked for a autograph photo and said my dad was in Da Nang in 72,retired NCO. I said he was just a hydraulic mechanic for Jolly Greens. He came unglued-Sir he kept us flying if it wasn't for each man and job we couldn't fly!!!!! Don't you forget it! He later talked to me and asked me questions about my time in the Army in the 80s and asked about my dad, he was the real deal and sent my dad a autograph photo-Thanks for keeping Us Flying! A real American Hero

Christina Olds is the type of daughter that all great men wish they had as their child. She has done a huge amount of work on keeping the legend and legacy of one of my favorite heroes, General Robin Olds. I am 65 and one of the first pictures I hung up on the wall of my bedroom in my apartment (after the divorce) is a fantastic photo of Col Olds by his F-4 in Vietnam. I served in 72' to 76' on the ECM systems for the RF model and the C model in Iceland. And I always loved my work and the friendships I developed with all of the different Maintenance people and the GIF and GIB that I met on my journey. And I always had hoped to run into General Olds somewhere during my travels. Thank you Christina for all you have done to educate us on the life of your Father. He was a True American Hero in my book.

I am ex Royal Navy and current Royal Australian Navy. An Engineer. I have never met a pilot or aviator who didn’t love flying and put it first. I am not a pilot. Robin Olds is an inspirational leader, his courage and his disdain for stupid orders from on high is a lesson for the likes of me.

This man, Robin Olds can be counted among those few Real fighter pilots of that period through World War II and Vietnam. But that is not all. His much loved and talented daughter, Christina, has so vividly brought to life what this wonderful guy really was: bigger than life I'd say. You see it in his smile; even through his full-blown mustache!! I can just say thank heaven there was one such as Robin who graced this earth/

I had the great honor to meet Robin at Oshkosh in 2005. He saw me fall out of the sky in an ultralight. He applauded the landing. We talked for several minutes. A great guy. A regular guy. People just wanted to be around him. Will always remember that moment.

I woke up at 3:00 AM this morning and I could not go back to sleep. When this happens I will go into the living room and turn on the TV and I will usually be asleep in 15 minutes or so. The stories and experiences that Christina Olds shares about her father would not allow me to go to sleep. I could have turned the video off and watched it later, but I was hooked.

Col. Olds was a great aviator. I was an air traffic controller at Ubon Thailand while he was there. He had a big booming voice on the radio. I think he was the highest ranking full colonel in the USAF, having made the rank in 1953 and promoted to one star general in 1968 after he left Ubon. I think I am correct on the dates. He would have promoted a lot sooner but he had difficulty playing the "politics" of the military. He took no prisoners.

What an outstanding story of an American Patriot aviator shared by an adoring daughter. Thank you PeninsulaSrsVideos for sharing Christina talking about her amazing father. We hope she has influence over who they find to play her Dad and that she selects an unknown or relatively unknown actor. It would be most excellent for a new actor to have a chance as we can bet once they learned about him they would do an excellent work.

Wow wow wow! What an amazing story of a legendary fighter pilot! If HBO picks it up and gives it the Band of Brothers treatment, I expect it will be pretty epic. Someone suggested Tom Hardy for the leading role as Robin Olds. After recalling Hardy's performance in Dunkirk (2017), playing the role of a fighter pilot no less, I would have to agree!

Robin Olds fighter Pilot, Father and military leader, he is one person I have admired along with Chappie James. It wasn't until I seen on KZbin years ago about the friendship between the two of them and the story of "Blackman and Robin". I can say one thing about from my own experience as a combat veteran that served 1 tour during Iraqi Freedom 2006-07, Christina Olds said it right about the men and women who have served together in a combat zone develop a unique relationship that is close or as closer than Family and will stay with them for the rest of their lives. She explained and tells the close relationship her Dad maintained over the years with former combat military Pilots and maintenance crews he had served with and kept a close relationship over the years long after serving the United States Air Force until the day he died. Thanks Christina Olds for telling and sharing your father's story and legacy. One last note 14 June 2007 was the day the Nebraska National Guard 1-167 Cavalry Squadron I deployed with boarded a plane from year long plus deployment in Iraq returning to United States of America, the Same Day (Ret.) Brig Gen Robin Olds passed away may God rest his soul.
