I think the biggest factor is that people are so used to backing away from reef and the original splashdown they don’t factor in the increased size of the slam, there’s THREE slams, and fact you have a more decisions to make in the heat of the moment. You could: A: shoot the fists and risk taking damage. B: shoot the person who initiated the special while risking damage and potentially getting a trade kill. C: Just run outright and then engage once they land. All three puts the player in a disadvantage one way or another in how to proceed.

@@slimballs9650 It depends on the blaster. I can see Luna and S-Blast’s jump shot potentially doing it in one shot since the blast radius is very large, but it’s a huge risk since they have to be close for it to happen.

I like how the hands can trade you back if someone gets greedy for a splashdown cancel. You can still get away with cancelling the special but if you aren’t careful you go down for it, makes it way more risky than just looking up and pressing zr.

So far I haven’t touched the new kits. I have canceled a splashdown but you still will die even if you get the kill. It does have a bit of armor too. So it’s a huge improvement on the original. That thing was so easy to cancel and get cancelled while getting nothing out of it.

I think Enperries are a pretty good aggro QR weapon, I like the synergy that it has with Splashdown. But I think the Splashdown fists should deal 180 DMG maximum, that way you can break the main Splashdown and the fist, and parry the third. This'll help if you're caught in the centre of the 3 splashdowns.

This version of splashdown is insane, they barely changed the stats from the original but adding two more in front of you makes it harder to fully cancel/die in, more range, and a huge amount of object damage! I'll still miss inkjet but this thing feels great

And Im specifically talking about the area denial. Its much more effective as cover tho, you cant see crap behind the screen

So much for a rework, tri-splashdown is probably the most fun I ever had with splashdown in a long time since Splatoon 2 before it was known shortly after that it could just get shot out of the air by a charger, or die to a well-timed suction bomb. Heck, 3’s Enperry dualie kit is the most fun I had for any dualie weapon I’ve ever used!

I don't think you need it, it just takes adjusting to. I'm playing it again today and rarely running out of ink. I do recommend comeback though which gives you ink efficiency perks anyway
