Definitely give it a shot before you do bevels. It is also a great way to know if your bevels are symmetrical before you go into HT because the false edge on each side should be the same. Thanks for watching.

When I'm grinding the off-hand direction, I'll slow my sander down a bit and creep up on the line slower. If I need to, I'll even go in with a file for the last few passes to even everything out.

I have a question how many passes do you do before changing grits going to a different belt I'm afraid of running out of material before I can get the deep scratches out I hope you can understand my question didn't really know exactly how to word the question thanks for your videos

It’s not a strict number of passes. The answer is “until you get the scratches out”. Sometimes it’s just a few passes, other times it takes more. Thanks for watching.

For wood scales, I typically just hand sand to 1000 grit, then buff with white compound. I'll hit it with some wax after that and some mineral oil but that's it. I've tried things like danish oil, tung oil, BLO and other treatments in the past but I just don't like the finish. Thanks for watching!

Just wondering why not taper on the mill? Is the belt grinder simply faster?

Tapering on the mill is extremely time consuming to setup the knife and try to fixture it. Plus it's not that accurate because of chatter. It's much easier and fast to grind it. Thanks for watching.

Sure, it possible, but I wouldn't recommend it. If you're doing bevels with a file I guess you can do the taper as well, but if you're putting in bevels with a grinder, just do the taper with a grinder as well. If you're doing a full-flat grind, just grind more as you get to the tip. Thanks for watching.
