@RetroCarGuy5303 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching my video. Tripltek's response on the boot time being longer was that Android 10 has more apps preinstalled than the 7 Pro at startup time which caused the slower boot time. The benchmark timings seemed to get a mixed reaction from Tripltek with them with them saying "these kinds of apps are not very accurate, if you run them again you will probably get different results". In my testing, the results did vary a small amount from between test runs, but not enough to disqualify the benchmark itself as being inaccurate. I have to say that I use my Tripltek 8 Pro for flying drones as well as installing and configuring the dashcams that I review and I use it with Android based scan tools like the Thinkcar ThinkDiag. I have come to rely on the Tripltek 8 Pro as a vital tool in my daily work life.

When I purchased the Tripltek 7 Pro tablet, the LifThor Baldur DJI RC-N1 controller adapter was offered with a 1/4-20 mount that clamped on to the bottom of the Tripltek 7 Pro tablet right on the Tripltek website. The Tripltek 8 Pro being shaped a bit different than the 7 Pro, the 1/4-20 tablet clamp for the 7 Pro would not work. I purchased the tripod mount adapter with a 1/4-20 threaded hole on the bottom of it from the Tripltek website. Using the LifThor Baldur (I guess they're call that older one a LifThor Baldur 1 now), I used the 1/4-20 screw from the original adapter to mount the tripod mount to the LifThor Baldor 1 and the DJI RC-N1 controller. Tripltek has since removed the LifThor Baldur (1) unit from their website. The manufacturer's website has a LifThor Baldur 2 mount for that RC-N1 controller, but I don't know if its tablet holder will fit the Tripltek 8 Pro. www.thorsdroneworld.com/product-page/lifthor-baldur-2-combo-for-dji-air2-mini2-mavic3

Thank you for posting--So,in your opinion--since I only fly DJI....which is better Smart controller of this one?
@RetroCarGuy5303 жыл бұрын
The DJI Smart Controller is compatible with the following drones according to the DJI website: DJI Mini 2, DJI Air 2S, Mavic Air 2, Mavic 2 Zoom, Mavic 2 Pro, Mavic 2 Enterprise Series, Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced, and Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 I found that I cannot even purchase a new DJI Smart Controller from the DJI website, but they seem to offer a refurbished unit for $599 USD. The screen brightness of the DJI Smart Controller is 1000 nits while the Tripltek 8 Pro has a 1200 nits screen. The main feature that attracted me to the Tripltek 8 Pro was its screen brightness and the large capacity internal battery. The fact that I can use the Tripltek 8 Pro to fly more DJI Mini 2, Mavic Pro and my Skydio 2 drone as well as run most any Android application, makes it the clear winner for me based on my needs. The DJI Smart Controller being fully self contained, ready to go almost instantly controller along with having a HDMI output port for sending video to another device can make it attractive to users that want those features. It really depends on what your needs are for flying your drones. I believe the Tripltek 8 Pro gives you the best overall feature sent and it should work with any drone that provides an Android controller app.

Can you use this on the original mavic Mini drone
@RetroCarGuy5303 жыл бұрын
Since the Mavic Mini uses the DJI Fly app, the Tripltek 8 Pro should work with that drone. I've been able to fly my older DJI Mavic Pro (DJI GO 4 app), Skydio 2 and the DJI Mini 2 (DJI Fly app) using the Tripltek 8 Pro tablet.

Thanks for your informative vid! I have just purchased the 8 and will receive this week. I have one device with a SIM card, my smartphone. How does one get a separate SIM card to use in this tablet? Thanks!
@RetroCarGuy5302 жыл бұрын
The Tripltek 8 Pro can act as a phone if a SIM card is installed for that type of service. I have a data only prepaid T-Mobile SIM card that I'm using in my Tripltek 8 Pro. I pay $10 per month and get 2 GB of 4G LTE data (transfer speed) and if I use more than 2 GB the speed is reduced to 3G speed, but the data is unlimited. You can check with your current cell phone provider to see what options they have for an additional SIM card (full phone SIM or a data only SIM) because sometimes you can share the data on your current cell phone plan with that additional SIM card/device.

So I could take the SIM card from my phone and use it in the Tripltek 8Pro? Does it have to be an Android phone? Thanks for the video, nice comparison!
@RetroCarGuy5303 жыл бұрын
The SIM card should not have to have been used previously with an Android phone. My SIM card is a data only SIM card from T-Mobile. I've been using the T-Mobile prepaid plans (2GB for $10 per month). It's actually unlimited data, but only the first 2GB of data are at the faster data transfer rate (in this case 4G). prepaid.t-mobile.com/prepaid-internet I use the T-Mobile cards in my LTE enabled dash cameras and now in the Tripltek 8 Pro tablet.

I've had mine for a few days and love it. However, I can't get the photos and videos to go to the tablet or to the dji fly app. I have that option on for the drone, air 2s. Any suggestions? Thanks

The Android version of the DJI Fly app v1.4.12 (there have been multiple official build releases of that same version number on Android) has had numerous problems. I believe the problems include photos syncing to the Android device. There are several videos from Gavin HR on KZbin that discuss the variety of issues with the 1.4.12 Android DJI Fly App. Gavin HR has a Google drive folder with APK files from the various releases of the DJI Fly app. You might want to downgrade to a pre 1.4.12 version to see if that resolves your problem. I have all of the APK files as well, but I don’t have them uploaded to a Google drive folder.

Cool review. Two questions : 1. Battery duration? 2. Where can i get the parts of your controller tablet stand? \m/
@RetroCarGuy5303 жыл бұрын
For the battery duration question, I have not run a full battery run down test suite yet. From the Tripltek website the battery holds its charge for up to 30 days on standby. I'll have to start a very basic battery run down test to get some numbers on that, but I have other reviews going on right now. I mentioned in this video that I discuss in more depth the drone controller adapters in my Tripltek 7 Pro review video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/haS4nGCQprR5psk The Lifthor Baldur controller adapter for the DJI RC-N1 controller (Mini 2 drone and others) was purchased from Tripltek's website back when I purchased the Tripltek 7 Pro, but you can purchase it elsewhere. I checked the Tripltek website and it appears they no longer offer the Lifthor Baldur DJI RC-N1 controller adapter. For the Tripltek 7 Pro, I used the tablet clamp from the Lifthor Baldur adapter and used that tablet clamp with my Skydio 2 controller's tablet adapter and my older DJI Mavic Pro drone. I had third party controller adapters that I started with on both of those and reused the Lifthor Baldur's tablet clamp for the Tripltek 7 Pro on each of them using the 1/4-20 threaded screw hole on the bottom of that clamp. I purchased the tripod mount for the Tripltek 8 Pro tablet from the Tripltek website. The tripod mount also has a 1/4-20 screw hole on the bottom edge which allowed me to use that tripod mount with all three solutions I located for the Tripltek 7 Pro tablet as well as allowing me to continue having a lanyard connector for all of them as well. www.tripltek.com/product-page/aluminum-tripod-bracket-for-tripltek-8 The adapter I used as the basis for the solution for the Skydio 2 controller (rebadged Parrot Anafi controller) is the RC GearPro Tablet Extender Mount. I got rid of the phone/tablet portion and used the controller clamp to get that part of the solution and then I created a very simple piece of peg board that allowed me to clamp on the tablet adapter clamp with the 1/4-20 screw hole. Having a lanyard connector is the most important for the Skydio 2 controller since the part of the controller the tablet adapter clamps to is not really meant to hold a lot of weight. RC GearPro Tablet Extender Mount for Parrot Anafi (affiliate link - US): amzn.to/3D8yiZL For my DJI Mavic Pro, I had a PolarPro FlightDeck controller tablet mount that I also used the tablet bracket with the 1/4-20 screw hole to clamp either the Tripltek 7 Pro or the Tripltek 8 Pro to it using that tablet clamp for that tablet. I hope that helps.

Hello! I acquired the 7 "PRO and I am delighted with it. It is the best option to enjoy the flight of my Mini 2. Two weeks ago I ordered the new 8" PRO since in my opinion this new version solves the weak points from the previous version. It is really amazing. I have one question for you, since you have de 7 Pro: Don't you think that this new screen looks less brilliant although it has 1200 nits as well? Thank you for this complete and excelent review. Best regards from Granada, Spain 👋

What is the advantage of this over a SMART CONTROLLER???
@RetroCarGuy5303 жыл бұрын
If you only fly DJI drones that can use the Smart Controller, then the only advantage is the 1200 nits of screen brightness with the Tripltek Pro 8 screen vs the 1000 nits of max brightness with the DJI Smart Controller screen. If you fly drones from multiple manufacturers (like I do), then you can have a screen with 1200 nits of brightness with all of the drones you fly.
