Sitia - Crete (sights and attractions)

I stayed in this town for four months in 2016. Best four months I've ever had, wonderful people and a beautiful place.

I spent a month in Sitia back in the early 90's. There was a little bar where local guys went and the bar owner only played Metal and Rock music. We got to know the locals who were really welcoming. One guy only ever wore a Manowar T-shirt and another guy could only manage to say 'Yeahhhh' which became his nickname. Good times and a great place.

You probably mean Albatros bar. His owner is an amazing, funny guy who played great music and spent all his money on records and going to concerts - he is very knowledgeable on rock music. Sadly, he is no longer running the bar but he is very well and happy, he has his own family now. You can still find the place as a cafeteria/bar by the name of Melathron. But the music and the atmosphere created by Manolis, the owner will never be found again.

@@joannaheart8167 That could very well be the place I remember! It was a small bar a few streets back from the harbour and it was the loud rock music I remember the most along with the local guys who all enjoyed the sounds. The only other thing I can remember was a beautiful girl called Eva who was doing her English exams in Iraklion!

@@tripment Hello, tripment, why do you say that it's not paradise? It looks absolutely magical. I have been a long-time follower of your youtube channel and absolutely love your content. Are there better destinations in Crete that you can recommend? I am looking for some place that has not been overrun by tourism and has been able to retain some of that traditional feeling and charm, PLUS some really outstanding beaches. Do you have any recommendations in Crete, or all of Greece for that matter? Thank you in advance for insight into the matter, much appreciated.

Αν προσωπικά αναζητούσατε έναν προορισμό διακοπών στην Ελλάδα, γεμάτο με τοπική γοητεία, εξαιρετικές παραλίες και χωρίς το λεκέ του να είστε υπερβολικά τουριστικοί, πού θα πήγαινα; Πολύ εκτίμησα.

@@lambrospolitis982 Επιμένω ότι η γοητεία δεν είναι αντικειμενική. Αυτό που γοητεύει εμένα, εσένα μπορεί να σε "ξενερώνει". Επίσης, αν με παρακολουθούσες θα γνώριζες ότι είμαι του βουνού, ακόμα και το καλοκαίρι. Οπότε δεν είμαι ο κατάλληλος να απαντήσω. Το μόνο λοιπόν που μπορώ να σου πω είναι ότι τα νησιά που με έχουν αγγίξει περισσότερο στην Ελλάδα είναι η Αμοργός και η Δονούσα. Για τους δικούς μου λόγους. Τέλος, νομίζω ότι πάρα πολλοί παραθαλάσσιοι προορισμοί μέχρι αρχές Ιουλίου έχουν τα χαρακτηριστικά που περιγράφεις. Έχουμε την τύχη να ζούμε σε μια χώρα που κρατάει τον χαρακτήρα της σε αυτό το επίπεδο. Οπότε άλλα είναι αυτά που εξιτάρουν τον καθέναν μας σε έναν τόπο.
