The whole album isnt gonna sound like tupac. Its the one real rap song he does in his alltys like "can you rap like me." the actual album will have his psycodelic love songs that he is best at. I think he making the right choices, if he continued catering to his current audience, not only would he not grow, everyone would outgrow him and he would have "fell off" to that audiences eyes and they'd move on. Its a smart move to build with an older audience cause it would give his career longevity. The younger audience burn out artists in like 3-5 years then move on to the next. Older audiences listen to the same artists consistently over 20+ years. Its a smart move to expand your audience, Wouldnt you agree?

Really good point about the oldhead’s nonstop hate on the younger generation but eventually they will age out and Trippie’s era of listeners will be the new older generation. 2pac’s name has been kept alive so long because he was one of the greats and Trippie is paying homage but not to win a popularity contest. Even though he spoke on some of this generation’s artists Trippie always shows love to this generation’s goats like X and Juice and collabs with the best in the industry today… look at Mansion Musiks feature list. Either way as a Trippie fan there’s really nothing left to do but to wait and see what kind of fire he drops with his next album.

one thing I will say is that Trippy Redd has always impressed me with his "Can You Rap Like Me" songs specifically the first two. He has the ability to pick up "old heads" and older hip hop fans but this is definitely not the way to do it

Yes there are some of certain hypocrisy but he once said in the interview he wanted to be the "soft rapper" because being lyrical takes time for him and won't give him enough views.
