The dynamic between rap fans and rappers is one that's always very interesting and dictates a lot of what happens in the music industry. In this video I talk about this relationship and a lot of what comes with it. #rap #hiphop #drake #kendricklamar #nbayoungboy #lildurk

its so funny how men like to act like they’re above stanning and being parasocial, like sports fans don’t literally being flipping over their cars and setting things on fire bc they’re favorite sports team lost 😭

I’m not surprised there are parasocial relationship relationships between people and their favourite rappers. They live vicariously through their lyrics. Listening to the music you enjoy releases dopamine chemicals in the brain, people are emotionally connected to the music that has been the soundtrack to their lives. Some stans take it too far, but I don’t think sports fans are much different from music fans. Sports fans will go buck wild all the time and that’s almost expected but people judge music fans much more harshly.
@peeron6829
@peeron6829 3 ай бұрын
true, when you think about it it was always like that. The 60s-90s where wild aswell in that regard. now you got the internet playing in it and the people think they know the artist as a human even more when in reality they most likely not. I think its impossible in Media artforms to not form that kind of relationship for some people but social media for sure made it a whole lot easier for people to form one with their artist, i think its mostly a bad thing tho

Definitely understandable. Take Kobe for example, the "Mamba Mentality" is to have the mindset to work hard and dedicate yourself to your craft. Kobe is exemplary of it. A lot of people have learned that from Kobe even though they've never met him. Dissing Kobe/ Mamba mentality is dissing hard work and dedication. The part where people adopt them into their life is because they don't see that in their actual life. Good video. I definitely agree.

Idolising someone is something I can’t relate to at all. We all have role models and inspirations, but that should always start at home first with people you know personally. And you should grow out of that in your school years. I could never look up to another human being like that. It’s worse than ever because of polarisation and tribalism in social media. At the heart of the issue it’s an inferiority complex.

Saying that weirdo "insulted" the barbz queen is wild. That guy actually had mental health issues and was talking about her child. He said disgusting things in general and anyone with some sense would have reported him. It was graphic and scary. Barbz can be wild, but lets not pretend people don't attack that lady. Everyone ignores the harassment and tries to minimize why she gets upset.

I'm sorry but every celebrity gets criticized , Beyonce for sure receives more criticism than Nicki . But did you ever hear her bring someone's dead mother or calling a person Crazy . it's okay to react but not overact . Lol People said horrible things about Beyonce 's child, but she reacted in a discreet way because she's smart and elegant. Even her fans were calm. So sorry but stop defending that Grown ass lady she's been in the game for 15 years . Even Doja has a better character

Thanks for the video ,very informative. But I have to add something: There is a difference between being inspired and having a parasocial relationship. Someone can be inspired to make music or whatever. But you don’t need to have a parasocial relationship. Parasocial means, you have a onesided platonic/romantic etc. realitionship with said star. But you can also just appreciate the art, without knowing or caring who that person is. I can talk from my experience: I draw manga since I was 3 years old, because I saw sailor moon and it inspired me to draw mangas. But I don’t really care who Naoko Takeuchi is. I wouldn’t call my situation a parasocial relationship but yet still It made me pursue my new found dream of drawing. I don’t know Kendrick Lamar, but he could just be inspired by listening to Tupac. And that made him create music.

Okay love the video, prepare for a novel though 😂 Ill start by saying I have been a Barb since Superbass (me age 12 at the time) and maintain that status as an adult 12 years later (i attend the queens live streams as often as possible 😂). I also like drake but definitely not a hardcore fan, first person shooter is the only song i heard on his last album because i kinda couldnt even be bothered with it tbh. Also like kendrick and have ever since Humble and other classics but yet again couldn’t tell you what his last album was even called. Anyway had to expose myself before others did 😂 As a Barb i definitely have been in heated conversations and arguments with friends family and randoms over Nicki related issues/ rap beefs. I dont agree with everything nicki says or does BUT i respect her right to be a different human being with different views. Have i argued to death with op fans and i have been a sassy pettttty little twink im her defense i wont apologize either. However death threats, doxing and anything else that involves more than verbal or typed arguments is just too far. Like we are human we love these people and at least most of us live in a free ish democracy so we can say what we want to a reasonable extent (obviously minus minority/ religious hate speech and death threats) arguing over who had better raps or who has more scandals is fine. But at least be fair. I have found with the drake/ Kendrick beef kendrick fans are almost like us barbs. I have left comments and had arguments in favor of drake as i thought he won honestly but i also dont deny Kendrick hit hard with Not like us and Meet the grahams (until allegedly it was set up) and i agreed with people on this AND STILL i was being accused of being a drake d rider for thinking he won even know that boy gone against nicki before so 😤 but i dont really care i dont take much to heart anyway. What i do care about though is equality in the sense of 2 things. 1: drake and kendrick both havent proven or disproven anything so why is it that because kendrick has in mosts eyes won why is he absolved of all his allegations and hypocrisy? Thats all i care about both these guys should be sussed or both should drop the allegations or at least get dirtier than they already are and drop receipts. I just dont get it. (I know some barbs are like that too but this takes us to point 2) 2: WHY WAS NICKI THE BULLY WITH BIGFOOT AND THESE GUYS ARE CELEBRATED AHHHH sorry literally had to scream that. Equality. Why is male beef boss and female beef bitchy like just leave 😂 at least with bigfoot nicki basically stated where she got all her information from for her allegations (pardi, future, her ex friend and other industry people) kendricks allegations are based of creepy tweets and people drake hangs around and creepy behavior/ comments(mind you the music industry has a large supply of s offenders but also just creepy people that are not s offenders) and drake’s allegations are based on kendricks own album and the following status of Kendricks fiance for almost a decade and a liked comment. (Not to mention to prove he set up Kendrick he only had one set up line in family matters and he mentions all the items in the cover for meet the grahams… so not strong 😂) regardless i just want consistency with the actual facts not the ones the rappers are telling you but the facts of what is actually before us the audience. And consistency to how we perceive rap through listenability, lyrics and persona not make and female feminine and masculine. Just to finish off (sorry for the soap opera) i just wanna state why i became a nicki fan (as i think you made us sound tragic 😂) at the ages of 12-16 id find myself at odds with people saying nicki isnt a rapper or shes not talented or she only shakes her ass. They would also say that only Kendrick or eminem. Or jay z were rappers. So I found myself pushing her more and more until i ultimately became a barb 😂 thats how it started but i also cant dent she did help me through a lot of shit and navigating my homophobic town as a gay boy but that started at 16 so not why i became a barb but still a part of it. Anyway my stoned ass needs another. Great video love your stuff just dont take anything i say too harshly thats just how i feel no hate but also too tired to try type nicer 😂❤ Edit: i just hit read more and oml im sorry i shouldnt have had another two anothers ago

Have to disagree with you when it comes to Pac & Biggie beef. Vibe magazine and Pac made it a coast vs coast beef most ppl on the East still was fans of Pac it was the West coast that more so clicked up not liking Biggie. Shit Biggie even had beef in his hometown with Wu Tang, Nas and others round the same time. Even with that clip of Snoop saying East coast ain’t got love for Dr. Dre and Snoop they are cheering probably not as loud because of relationships in the room at the time
