Call the new rod Ned Kelly because it demands a ransom of trout from every river it fish's 😁 I need to put more effort into my leaders , my go to is straight line to a hare & copper with enough lead to sink a battle ship rapped around the hook shank and a phesant tail one and a half foot behind it. ..up here in Ontario Canada, being successful in gin-clear water is difficult, the trout get easily spooked..you have to crawl up to a stream like that on your belly, and stay 20 feet back from the water's edge if you want to nail a big one. Footstep vibration can send them packing too. Question: Do those fish have any predators down there?

The beaded peacock pointer is on the nz fishing flies site. If you are having trouble, just msg him and he will look after you. I was about 2/3 of the way down the south..

Yes I do but only up to water that is around 8-10ft deep. Any more than that and I’ll sway over and build my own leader from scratch. Otherwise you just can’t fish deep enough

@@itsrecordingman From those rivers with a fragile ecosystem, they can’t handle people taking fish as it has too much of an impact on them. Other rivers such as my local ones that run into a huge lake, it’s not a problem as there are heaps of fish. Just have to be selective about what you are doing IF you take a fish that’s all. For me, it’s just a personal thing - I don’t want to keep fish.

How does the SA tipped compare to the Trout Hunter stuff? I switched to that and feel is is better than the old SA tipped and the Rio fluro I had

It’s been years since I used the Trout Hunter stuff and I really liked it but the SA supreme is every bit as good and I feel that the knot strength is slightly stronger so that’s a win in my books. Best thing to do is trial some and see what you think. As you know it mostly comes down to personal preference at the end of the day!
