They usually don't use 350ULR to fly SFO-SIN, because the distance is still within the regular A350 range.

Is that so? Then maybe they only fly it during a specific time of year when the headwinds cause a longer journey for the SIN-SFO route, I'm not sure. But since my flight in Jan, SQ33 and SQ34 are still being operated by the ULR.

One other benefit of the ULR flight is being less crowded at baggage claim & immigration.

Considering spending the extra $$$ for premium economy. The extra cost looks worth it for all of the little comforts for a long-haul flight between SIN-SFO. Appreciate the vlog.

The "purple lights" are the combination of red from the wing lights mixed with the interior white. At various angles they can range from pink to a redish or purple hue.

Thanks for posting this. Does anyone know how many pilots are in long flight like this usually?
@AeroAni
@AeroAni Жыл бұрын
Aside from the captain and first officer, there are usually 1-2 relief pilots, and maybe a flight engineer. So it varies from 3-5.

Great video. Did you plan your trip to be on the A350-ULR or did it just happen? When I flew from SFO to Taipei in January those tailwinds were headwinds for me. It was like we were crossing the Pacific at a snail's pace.

The flight was planned to be operated by the A350 ULR when booking, and premium economy was the default booking class--economy was not an option. And yes, unfortunate how the strong winds really slow you down in the opposite direction. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video. The service here was the same on my SEA to BKK flight in September. Unfortunately, that flight is likely to be my last on SA. While the service on the plane is very good, the customer service in general is horrible. It caused me to have to skip my return flight on SA and fly another airline back to Seattle. I flew EVA airlines in February and I’ll be Flying China Airlines in November

That’s a shame. Unfortunate to hear your experience with them wasn’t perfect. For me, the customer service was pretty good overall. Thanks for watching!

I have flown Sia a few times in the past and they were good out of Australia. I hear lately though their standards in particular food quality and amounts are dropping due cost cutting. Also PE reviews saying SIA PE not worth it. They only give one meal on a long haul used to be more but service is still good. However PE not worth it.

Overall SIA remains a great airline bu as you say there has been cost-cutting over the years (and I speak of someone who first flew SIA in 1973 when its 707s were ex-Qantas and they still had the wattle leaf image on the cabin walls !) and one complaint is that SIA classifies Australia as a regional destination. I find this surprising because SIN-SYD is a farther distance than LON-NYC even though airlines (both in Europe and N America) consider this transatlantic sector as long-haul.

This was actually my first time on SQ and my first ever premium flight, so I unfortunately can't speak from experience. But on this flight, there were two full meals--and I felt the food was satisfactory. Overall, I was pretty impressed with SQ's premium product, and felt it was worth it. But that's my opinion.

@@alexmcwhirter6611 That's quite interesting, didn't know SQ considered Australia regional. And flying their 707s in the 1970s must have been an amazing experience!
