wow haha I flew their 787 from xiamen to Chengdu about 1.5 weeks ago and the same thing happened where they just served meals before takeoff, I was able to finish a movie before we started moving haha.

I like the switch from maroon on Hainan Airlines to a warm sky blue on Xiamen Air for the seats (not to mention the flight attendants. Cute). Nice IFE. Good selection for a smaller chinese airline. Ground food service? Makes sense since there was a take-off delay of over 2 hours. Nice meals. The noodles looked really tasty. Cool dimmable windows. Another all Mandarin inflight magazine (Hainan Airlines was the first). The runways were pretty wet in Xiamen. Must have been quite a storm. Nice arrival airport and report.

On a 2:30 qantas domestic flight all they gave us was a grilled cheese sandwich. It was a 737-800 and they had to carry meals for the shorter return flight to Sydney from Alice Springs

Great video as always! I looked on SeatGuru and it appears that Xiamen always starts first class with row number 1, business with row 11 and economy with row 41 across their entire fleet. Can't say I've seen that anywhere else before.

You don't know how sad it was when my Xiamen Airlines to Shanghai flight changed from a 757 to a 737-700 on the last minute! I live in Australia and there is not a single 757 regular scheduled flight at all!

You definitely wanna try it! When flying with Asian carriers, you have plenty of chances to fly with widebody aircrafts even on short flights and can get a complimentary meal for flights that are longer than 90 minutes

Really a very interesting report, something I will probably never experience, from the weird seat numbers to the entire process and having all of your food before you even take off, just bizarre, but great to watch. Fantastic report Felix.

The early meal service is definitely not a feature of the airline but due to the weather grounding. I personally think all airlines should do this, being stuck on the tarmac while hungry is a terrible experience for passengers. It happened to me once while flying with ANA out of PEK. The crew continuously served snacks during the 3-hour wait and everyone, including me, was appreciative of that. Last year, some passengers in YVR were stuck on the waiting plane without food for hours and many complained about it on reddit.

Just a heads up, the written language is not Mandarin, there is only one written language in China - Chinese. It is how it is spoken that changes it into Mandarin, Cantonese etc. The symbols and meanings are exactly the same, it is how those symbols are verbalised that give the different dialects.

the reason why they skipped rows is because in Chinese 4 sounds almost the same as Death and the Chinese believe it will bring you bad luck if you sit in 4 (i’m half chinese so DONT say i’m lying since i heard this from my chinese mum)

It depends on the capacity of the routes the carriers fly to. For example, Phillipine Airlines mainly use A321s on flights to Tokyo, however they use even 777s and A330s to fly to Hongkong, of which is about 2 hours shorter
