I always picture it as: She starts going up the stairs, and her BF is obviously nervous. However Mom comes in from the kitchen with like tea or something. She calms it all down, and sits Tommy down to relax. Mom begins explaining THEIR whole story here. At this point the daughter has come back down and Mom sits her close by Tommy. I see a photo on the wall being of like the Mom and Dad's wedding day, and say that it's on the wall above Tommy and Katie. The parents are looking at the younglings and Mom/Camera points at the photo at, "...like I still look at you!" Then it would fade into Tommy and Katie's eventual wedding scene, like they're in the same pose but it comes to life. That's just the happy story that always plays in MY head when I hear this song. 🤷‍♀

My mom and sister loved this song. I'm not a country fan anymore but I'll always have a soft spot for some of those old 90s country songs. After my mom died, all those old songs make me think of my mom. She took me to my very first concert when I was 12 which happened to be Reba McEntire, who was her favorite singer.

This song came out when I was still a toddler and my family (and quite a lot of the rest of the town) named it "my song." Despite it being played at me constantly growing up (and at least one incident when I was forced to karaoke it in front of my entire 6th-grade class) I have made peace with it and come to love. The guy named Tommy that was in my class, not so much. (Also, the reason her dad doesn't like Tommy is because he WAS a teenage boy and he remembers what he and Katie's mom we're up to)

Grew up with a Drive-In about a half hour away. Had some of my favorite childhood memories there. My family would Caravan together and all the kids would lay on sleeping bags and blankets in the bed of my Dad’s pickup. It’s still running and I cannot wait to bring my son one day!

I’m old, 42 and I remember going to the drive in with my parents and two siblings, we would wear our p.j’s. They would play a family movie first and then a more adult movie. Is kiddos would fall asleep in the back seat, it was such an amazing time!!

Thank goodness yes. When COVID hit, everyone rediscovered the Sacramento Drive Inn. One of only 18 left in the whole state of California. Most people didn't know it still existed until the radio and news stations did a story on it. Mostly older releases because not much new was release to public viewing during COVID but it was a way to get out and feel normal for a few hours.

As I am old I used to go to the drive in. They were already gone by the time we had our kids (too bad since you could just put them in jammies and have dinner while watching a double feature like I used to do when babysitting). When she was on tour with Garth I kept telling my DH that they were a couple, but he just said I was always so suspicious. When they divorced their spouses and got married he came home with a gorgeous pair of earrings. I love being right!

We still have a drive-in theatre here in Greenwood ,SC... It was close down for years. Now the new owners upgraded it to HD ..and added 2 more screens for a total of 3.. each one plays 2 movies a night, on the weekends.. I think they are staying open through the quarantine.

There's a drive- in theater about 40 mins from me we took our kids for the first time a couple weeks ago. They loved it. This song has always been a fav of mine. I was 17 when I started dating my husband and my dad wasn't really thrilled about it. We've been together since '96.

When I was growing up, we lived across the street from the Glenwood Drive In. We went there all the time. When I was dating my (now husband), we went to the Starlight Drive In. The last movie to be shown at Glenwood was ET. I made my husband take me there to see it and to say goodbye to something that had been such a big part of my childhood. We have a few drive-in's, and they actually were able to open before a lot of other stuff they just told you to watch from your car and the kids couldn't be running around, etc. But Garth Brooks is doing a country wide tour at drive in's because the concert arenas aren't going to be open for a while. Greatest country story (the boyfriend isn't just coming in a truck, but in a beat up chevy truck, and not just driving up, but honking, making noise, and splashing through the mud, he's excited for their date and want to let her know he's almost there! Actually there are still Drive-In Theaters in Central Pennsylvania. Some Drive-Ins are actually open now because a patron can stay quarantined in their cars.

We have a couple really nice drive ins here in indiana. Dont even have to fumble with that bulky speaker hanging on your window anymore. Just tune your radio to their channel and enjoy the movie. Perfect for social distancing.

There's literally one left in lakeland, Fl the Silver Moon Drive In. It's awesome except one thing...in Florida we are overloaded with bugs, mosquitoes, love bugs, etc. It's also hot and humid. So unless your cool with keeping your windows up and your air conditioner running through a 2 hr movie you might not like the drive in.
