I'm sorta like that. Alot of tips Tris talks about are things I just naturally do. Also not trying to brag or anything I actually have a shit voice I just have good vocal control 😂
@marco.27215 жыл бұрын
As a musician (drums, percussion, guitar, and bass guitar), I also have some skill sets that just came naturally. I don’t sing for the sake of everybody else’s ears but when it comes to making music through instruments, I kind of do what sounds right and what is most comfortable for me to play and it brings out my style in other peoples’ compositions. But like Brendon, when I attend clinics and I just listen to other teachers and instructors using all of these big and technical musical terms, It’s fascinating to learn about what you’re actually doing and it opens up the doors to actually make it better
@RedSpecial965 жыл бұрын
@@Kattykat49 yeah singing is not just getting the technical side of things down. It's how you deliver. I don't remember who but a famous singer said something like "anyone can have a technically great singing voice, but I can sing a song."

Singing is, after all, practice. Many singers don't know anything technical, their coaches just tell them what to fix and how to do it, then they forget the term a week after, but they're still applying that technique.

I love how at 7:43 Brendon's like "oh i didn't know that" about his OWN DAMN VOICE
@babyswithrabies5 жыл бұрын
i don't agree with a darker sound allowing you to go higher...i feel like that's just compltely wrong. an over darkening (dropping of the larynx) makes it way harder to then jump to high notes. because you have to stretch out the vocal chords to sing high so your larynx needs to go to a higher position. the conventional way to sing high is to thin things out...not darken them.
@ethanl8865 жыл бұрын

I feel like on some level he's purposely adopting a naive personality to be relatable or show humility. If his reaction was like "oh no, actually that's wrong, here's why I have this amazing range" he would risk sounding like a prick. I have little doubt he understands his voice very well and has seen countless voice professionals so he's either genuinely humble, or polite enough to seem that way. From everything I've understood, it's actually the opposite ("dark" timbre vs. high pitch) so I wouldn't be surprised if he was secretly thinking "uh, what?"... a lot of his actions in the video could be read as veiled snark in fact... but I think partly he's just uncomfortable watching himself on video, which is understandable even if you're talented. That said, I'm curious to hear his own reaction, considering how people tend to immediately recognize their own mistakes. He makes a good point that "these vocal coaches are too nice"... I think he means that honestly. There were mistakes in the video and I think he recognized they were not commented on. If you're thinking about the type of person Brendon Urie would hire as a vocal coach, it's not someone who will spend their time and money talking up their voice only. They need someone to tell them what's working, what's not, what to try, and what will work better... so I agree it would be interesting to hear more criticism (maybe better done on random live vids or "same song, different day" comparisons or even "studio vs. live" comparisons... vs. "best of's") and I think would be helpful "eductionally".

Well a lot of singers just learn from instinct and practice not really theory. So it's important to know they may have basically through trail and error formed the right vowels or sound that allows there voice to hit certain notes.

You can tell Brendon is self taught, because otherwise when Tristan talks about vocal stuff, he'd totally understand. But when Tristan explains tonality or something, Brendon is like, "oh cool! I didn't know that!" Which means that, most likely, he's never had a vocal coach. Which is amazing, given his vocal prowess. That cover of Dream On fucking astounded me. I love that song so much. The high note is crazy. I can hit it...it ain't pretty when I do, but I can! But the fact he can not only hit the note but make it sound fucking amazing...i dunno. I've heard P!ATD before, obviously, but i never really sought them out. Might have to change that.
