The boys are sure getting big. Glad the girls didn’t give you a hard tome returning! Yay for the eggs. They will start getting bigger!

Good morning if you want your chickens to lay eggs in the cooler climates you need to build them a chicken coop and insulated along with a heat source. (Sky windows) (Heat lamps) You also want to install vents for when it is hot .

Wow the boys are growing like weeds! The girls act like pets and follow you home, pretty cool. I think you should consider putting in a ditch somewhere along the property so all the water has somewhere else to go besides sitting all over the place.

Sure would be nice to be able to but to get the water from the whole property would be tough. Once we get all the digging done for the house we will grade that away and add some french drains. The pond is also full and the spill pipe shoots out right behind where the house is (about 200 feet behind). So we will add a swale behind the house to push the water away toward the side of the property. Where the pigs are now is just the wettest area and always will be. Once we get it cleared of brambles and get some grass growing and some more animals on the land, it should hold water a lot better.

Did you have three pigs originally? Or was it always two
@TriStarHomestead7 ай бұрын
We had three pigs originally (two gilts and a barrow), we processed one and then got two more. We currently have four. Three for breeding and one for eating.

Some of them are big and fat, lots of meat

It would be a lot but the only one going in the freezer is red. The other three (two gilts and boar) are our breeders.
