Wukong. Great unit? Or the Greatest unit? Rift only or more. First impression of the Monkey King

Guys, wukong doesnot just have anti crit build in, he has def pen resist as well. To those who compare wukong to water or senya, saying that he will get crit and die since rngesus, thats not how it works. Senya or current water unit have 50% chance to resist jenua but tgey dont have def pen resist, meaning they will get a full def pen dmg from jenua if he crits. Wukong has 50+20% crit resist means more rng for jenua to play against and even if jenua crit wukong, he wont do full pen dmg to wukong, potentally not killing him. Also do keep in mind that jenua s3 multiplier is really low so without full pen i doubt he will do meaningful dmg to wukong at all. Additionally, wukong counter haste as well. His def pen resist will dull haste dmg and since haste cant crit, he will stack up wukong passive really fast if he counter or atk wukong.

His defensive ability is also stacked; barrier, self buff anti crit & anti penetration. Combined with damage sharing he will be a tanky dps.

it specifically says the pen res doesn't reduce DoT damage, but yea still he seems pretty difficult to kill

​​@@omlett6482 Yeah. Extra dmg and fixed dmg are weird in that they don't actually penetrate defense. They just have a different calculation for defense. Instead of penetrating 70%, they simply only factor in 30%. The weirdest part is that the formula can clearly be ignored for some characters like Karina who's fixed dmg calculates full def instead of the standard 30%. We can expect anything that ignores pen will always exclude fixed/extra dmg for that reason. Maybe we'll get a mechanic that reduces fixed dmg one day though. Would be nice considering how common fixed dmg is these days.

Do you know if defense break counts towards the defense pen resistance? This unit does seem like a must have for gwar and rift though. Could be completely useless if he gets crit by Jenua and dies still.

I don't think so, the debuffs say decrease defense not penetrating or ignoring defense

Like the other person said, def break isn't pen. It's a reduction in your total stats. So Wukong is still very susceptible to def break. Which is kind of necessary. He doesn't have many weaknesses, besides his lack of debuff protection and he's just stat hungry enough that building eff res is gonna be difficult.

I just wonder how many times they've recorded that arena video before he resisted that crit from Jenua and they were able to land def break with A Ras so they could finish Haste before anybody else 😅 Or they cheat coded it 😂

I will probably do enough to get the rewards on the track and dip out to hunts. I still say the energy cost is too high. Last time we ever got an energy cap increase it was just 10 points more

SG is paywalling gear behind units. Pretty smart and somewhat fair: you can still get the unit and some gear but if you want to max - you need to pay (bookmarks and stuff). This is why recent event required limited units and artifacts. This is why rift will require Wukong.

Or ran rnls 3 times in a row. Never again i rely on any % chance to win, if its not 100%, there is a good chance you're going to loose.

there is no way he's stopping jenua in gw defense, praying for 50/50 for anti crit is not a good answer for jenua, might as well bring full ice team and hope he misses. Lets be real, unless that woukong is insanely tanky, he's going to die to jenua if he crits. Hell, we already have "woukong" just bring senya vs jenua and hope he doesnt crit her. As far as RTA goes im sure whales will find a way to use him lol just slap some cracked gear on him and good to go, 30k hp 2k defense, 4k attack 240 speed woukongs in legend rta, you'll see.

The thing about wukong is that he has higher crit resist than senya meaning more rng for jenua on top off the def pen resist, meaning jenua will have to play rng game with wukong and even if he crit wukong, jenua s3 multiplier is so weak that without full pen he wont do meaningful damage to wukong. Bringing water to jenua is a always but he still has 50% chance to crit them, the same thing for senya as well, and since they dont have def pen resist, they will get a full def pen damage to the face and die right away.

Also wukong is a straight counter to Haste as well if you think about it. His def pen resist with dull haste dmg and haste non crit atk will just give wukong his passive stacks.

@@tuanthanhtruong7918 they both have 50% but if you consider that jenua has elemental advantage its more like 35%. You're not gonna really rely on his artifact either, with artifact jenua will still have 45% chance to crit him, basically 50/50.

@@xFlow777 i dont think elemental advantages affect anti crit at all. Sure jenua will do a little more dmg to wukong but jenua s3 multiplier is weak, without full pen dmg i dont think he can kill wukong, and if jenua cant kill wukong he just risk getting stun by wukong s3 after.

@@tuanthanhtruong7918 it does, because heroes have 15% extra chance to crit vs elemental disadvantageous heroes. And defense pen resistance is not as big of damage reduction as you might think, 50% less def pen doesnt mean 50% less damage. Defense pen only reduces targets defense, if you dont have high defense to begin with jenua is still going to hit you like a train. 2k defense woukong, when jenua hits him he's going to have 1k defense, with elemental advantage how hard do you think jenua is going to hit a 1k defense hero with elemental disadvantage? For a fk ton is the answer. That stun can easily be 15% or jenua could have immunity on him from like bestion of perlutia, I wouldnt rely on a stun, might as well just bring winter to stun him, he could also be stealthed by luas artifact so you wount even be able to attack him with woukong and if jenua takes 2 turns, i dont have how tanky your woukong is he's going to die.
