Its crazy that billy hates this one , its my favorite, he stated it was his only regret on that album

it's sad to hear yeah and while I can see where he's coming from in terms of songwriting and growth as band, this song is just so fun and it is such a Billy style riff that represents a lot of why I love his playing. I love the solo too it's one of my favourites on Gish, again simple, but the way it plays off the rhythm guitar is so organic

agreed, awesome tone

Just realised I am playing the main riff wrong, learned it by ear and didn't hear that there is a D played just after the F#. cbf redoing it because I like the take oh well

Yes, but it’s very subtle. We’ll let it slide! 🤣 Great work.

is that the one with the octave power chords or the one at the 10-12 fret?

Awesome cover, love the tone. How did you nail the tone for the solo?
@bukel938 ай бұрын
Guitar goes straight directly into a Marshall AVT50 on the gain channel. If you want something close to what Billy used on Gish then a Tube Screamer into a dirty amp with some reverb should do it

@bukel93 awesome, thank you! Any other future SP covers in the works?

hey, just big muff the whole song, or something extra for the solo?
@bukel93 Жыл бұрын
Whatever sounds good to you is what works, but for anything from the Gish era I would personally go straight into an amp with just an overdrive pedal for lead work. Billy went through a gainy pre-amp straight into a valve amp from around 1989-1992ish before he found the big muff

@@bukel93 oh right, it was an ADA MP1 (apparently right into the mixing board). I’ll use my Mesa lead channel or Marshall pedal. Maybe slap on a phaser or something for leads. Just nailed Snail and Luna (our jam band has 10 sp songs pretty solid now…just one guitar and im also singing). I’ve a lot of work left for the solos on Tri, Bury Me, Soma and Geek so those songs are on hold. I know, Practice practice practice!

One of the next pumpkins covers will be Geek for sure but with life getting in the way I'm not too sure when that'll be. Those Geek solos are shredders to say the very least @@spindrift2009

@@bukel93 for sure. I’m only guitarist and vocalist in our band, so it’s extra work! The guitar part has to be largely automatic so I can focus on singing. We have the following solid: Zero, 1979, cherub, mayo, today, disarm, tonight, Luna, snail, bullet, drown. I’d love to be able to do geek, tristessa and bury me, and that’s it. (Soma won’t fly live…I don’t think people will have patience. Hahh). My only dilemma right now is I have 3 choices for Gish/MC type distortion and still can’t decide (my Mesa lead channel, a pal800-v3-gold pedal, or a boss angry-charlie pedal. Too many choices is actually a problem!) Good day mate!

Op amp big muff, he didn’t find the muff during gish but with a bit of adjustment you can make it work. Main thing is a lot of gain.
