😂😂 These days James often has a big happy goofy smile on his face and it's wonderful to see. It's infectious and I find myself grinning at my phone like an idiot. Keep smiling man!

Wow, how cool to get new sails. And Rolly Tasker sails, no less! I met Rolly at the 92 America's Cup in San Diego - what a gent he was. He gave me a poster of the 1987 AC in Fremantle that he had designed, even signed it with a dedication. Still has pride of place framed in my house. I'm sure Rolly would be as 'stoked' as you are if he could see those new sails on Triteia!

I met Rolly Tasker when I was a kid in Fremantle after the Parmelia Yacht race.in 1979. I have 2 Rolly Tasker sails on my boat they're awesome.

Very nice! Beautifully leathered clew. Webbing is much better than the shackles some use, as you mentioned. Full batten will prevent or at least reduce flogging in calms. Great to have rings on both sides at each luff reef grommet. As mentioned, MacLube will help with the friction, might be worthwhile to go up the mast and scrub the external track with ScotchBrite all the way down. Would be a chance to check the alignment of the sections with each other and to examine the rivets holding the track to the mast. The third reef will be very nice when the wind really picks up. Moving the reef blocks would be good. Might consider placing the blocks on a track. Rowing an inflatable is a nightmare...makes evreryone look like they need practice. Enjoy the sails!

Great!!! I just got new sails made here in New Zealand, and it does hurt the pocket!!! I chose not to have a third reef because if you need the third on might as well have already your Storm Tri sail on. If you use the mail on your third reef, it will likely get damaged beyond repair! Fair winds!!!
@SailorJames2 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you are talking about “mail”? But 3 reefs are common and 4th reefs are the same as Storm Trysail not 3rd reefs
@alexovnz2 жыл бұрын
@@SailorJames Main, not mail. The Tri Sail is flat and much heavier while the Main is not. If you need the third reef, better set the Tri Sail. Cheers

Really nice looking sails!! Instead of getting reef ties, why don’t build a lazy jack? Is a lot of help when sailing short handed…
@SailorJames2 жыл бұрын
I will be adding lazy jacks but sail ties are still needed for reef points

silicone spray (aerosol) at home depot for $5/can :::: has worked great for me, doesn't stain, and night and day difference in ease of raising my main sail (and just generally good to have onboard). love full battens and third reef. adding rolly tasker to my resource list. vjoe (alberg 29)

Question.... do the sails have to be white or can they be different colors?... also is one color better than others? Thanks in advance.
@SailorJames2 жыл бұрын
They can be any color but white helps other boats see you at sea and the reflect heat instead of absorb heat. Storm sails are sometimes bright orange to really stand out in bad conditions
