How is the inside? Does it have ball bearings on a spindle or is it same cheap plastic bushings like on WENwet sharpener?

I noticed that some woodworkers sharpen with the wheel turning towards the tool while others sharpen with it turning away. In this case, you use the stone turning into the tool (see 3:26), while the polishing wheel is used with the wheel turning away. does it matter: If so, which one is best and why? Thanks for the video.

you shouldn't run it with the wheel running towards the tool because this damages your wheel. Always run away!

The strop (polishing wheel) always runs away from the edge (trailing edge) to prevent the blade from digging into the wheel, using a hand strop to debut/polish is the same. As for sharpening, on this device, I suspect it is leading edge simply because of the way the product was designed (particularly with respect to blade holding jigs). Sharpening leading or trailing edge is usually what you are used to and once you get used to this machine, you will be able to do it both ways. It does not necessarily produce a different result. The burr left is different in each method, a little anyway, but you'll be removing that anyway. Note: there is no danger to the stone (wheel) if you are careful when sharpening. Consider this, most people that sharpen stuff do it on a bench grinder, and they tend to rotate towards the tool. I sharpen using a number of different ways for different tools and applications, but I'd recommend learning how to use Whetstones, buy some good ones and you can sharpen almost anything beautifully. For a fraction of the cost of a machine, you can buy very nice coarse, medium and fine stones that will last decades and they're portable, don't require power and replacement costs are less than with these machines. Learn about sharpening before making any purchasing decisions. A machine like this (I have I almost never use) is ok for professional work (some), but what I can promise you is that once you learn to sharpen by hand, you will enjoy it, far more than using a machine. Spend the time, acquire a skill and have fun. Edit: there is no best way.

Hi Steve, have you got a video on using the truing tool as I just cant seem to think how to use it. Being disabled and having memory problems it would be really great to be able to see you or anyone show us how to use it. This is my first wetstone and thought it would be the best to use but I didn't realise theres no videos that I can find on using the different jigs and sharpening different things either like the Tormek do.
